TWC salesperson came by yesterday, sounds like they may be cheaper than what I currently pay for dish network and embarq dsl.

But what about their phone service? Is it true that if the power is out you have no phone service either?

Yes, and no. In most cases, when the power goes out you will lose phone because the digital modem is powered by house current.

However, if you buy a battery backup power strip (about $50), and plug the modem into it, in most cases, just because the power is off doesn't mean the cable is out, you'll have phone for as long as the battery backup works.
