How do I...

In a nutshell, what I want to do, is form a list of who bought a house in a certain county last month. If I could break it down by subdivision, that would even be better.

I'm looking more specifically in Wake Co, and I know that I can go to this website:

    http://web.co.wake.nc.us/rdeeds/

And look up deeds, but that's not really helping. The most I can do is search for all deeds filed between two certain dates, and then pull each one individually.

So....any of you smart people have any ideas?

Most counties are high tech enough to produce a search by ____+____ for the general public to view in a mass list.

I would think someone in real estate would probably be able to help you find something close to what you want.

    sorry I was useless...

Hmmmmmmmmmm, let me think on that a bit. I've used that website a lot, but not that large a list.

Jen, I could give you properties that were sold in certain counties but not names, However with the addresses you could do a search on GIS, unfortunately it will take some time for their records to be updated. Let me know if I can help.

That's more in line with what I need. How specific does that get? Or better yet, is there a way for me to access that information on an ongoing basis myself?

You want my list I get. I have 7 years worth of new homeowners! Doesn't break it down by Subdivision only Zip code. I get $80k + price range and the amount of them vary from month to month. Just depends on how many people move in that month. I get 11 counties every month. Let me know.

Yeah, but you pay for it too. There's got to be somewhere that it's easier to access as public record.

Anything that can be done by hand (on a computer) can be automated. All you need to do is be able to say exactly what steps you take to get the results you want.

PM me, with exactly what you do by hand and I'll tell you how long it will take me to automate the process for you. If it's not longer to create the automation than you can accept, I'll be more than happy to do it.

I'll be happy to do it as a favour (and because I like a challenge), but remember that I also have a job that must take priority.

    Hey Jen,
Go back to the Wake County website and check Tax, property and Maps. Then, search real estate records. Enter the address of a house in the neighborhood you're searching for information about, then click on it (on the next page that loads) to get the detailed information about it. Once you've gotten that far, click on the tab that says "sales". You should generate a list of houses in that neighborhood that have sold recently and the owners/prices. Call me at work if you get stuck or didn't understand any of this.

That's much closer, now I need a way to streamline it.

    And Clif, I'll PM you...

Mama Ape, I have a ? for you too. Let me know when you have a second.

I would contact the registrar of deeds for that county. Ask them if they have that information. It's all kept via computer now, and I feel certain they have reports.

I did, and they directed me to the website in my first post.

    Thanks for the suggestions though!
