Wow, this reminds me of an issue I had at Ruby Tuesday @ 4042. Long story short the waiter was dumb as a post. Slow service. While my wife had just start eating he asked 3 times if we needed a to go box! His friends came in and sat at a booth behind us. Well his attention was now off us and on his friends. In conversation with them he dropped the F bomb! We finally paid up and left with a poor tip. The Area Mgr called me and said he was upset but I never heard anything else. I guess it was all just talk.

After reading all this...I will think twice before going to a fast food place. And as for tipping, if its bad service, my husband will not leave any. Good luck trying to confront my hubby about not leaving a tip ;)

He was upset you left a poor tip?? Should have been his clue you got poor service!

MY DH said he went out for a work dinner once and the person paying laid some money up on the table to begin with and told the server that was their tip, BUT that it would start to decrease if he didn't get good service. They had great service, imagine that! I guess it was the visual of the actual money on the table. I haven't had the nerve to do it myself though.

I used to work with someone who said they did that and that their wife was always embarassed at first, but it always got them good service.

    Back to the McKinley's discussion...

A friend of mine ate at McKinleys with her parents about two months ago. The waitress only came to take their order (which she got totally wrong) and to bring them the check after they asked four people to find her. They sat with empty drink glasses through the entire meal so of course, they opted for no tip.

The waitress also confronted them at the door and they believe the manager was within earshot glaring at them. They told her that was the worst service they have ever had and they will not be coming back. Well, they got in their car and started to drive off when they saw the same guy (again, the manager) standing in the doorway watching them.

    Unbelievable.

I wont eat there anymore after hearing that. I have been there maybe 3 or 4 times and have had ONE good waiter.

I think someone should contact McKinleys and tell them about this forum. Maybe then they will change how they treat their customers.
Or just train their waitstaff altogether because not only do they need to be taught some manners, but they also need to be taught how to properly serve.

I feel sorry for the person who ever confronts either me or DH for not leaving a tip if I got crappy service. Sounds like he's doing a good job of driving his business into the ground. I've been there a couple of times, can't say I was impressed, but not as bad as some of these experiences.

I'm sitting here with my jaw dropping.

I've seen people complain about McK's before, and some people rave about it, but what is the most shocking to me is that a waitress would stop someone and ask them why they didn't leave a tip.

Are you kidding me? Really? That just blows my mind.

maybe the manager told the staff to do that since he seems to act the same way. Not a way to get returning customers if you ask me

I haven't been in McKinleys in at least a year and a half. The service was always awful except for just one of the servers and I think the only reason we got good service from her was because we used to be regulars. But I have had a conflict with Eric before and I am amazed that he still has a business because he has no business management skills at all!

Some business owners in this area may want to wake up and look at all the growth that we have now and coming in the future. There will be a lot more choices coming as to where we want to spend our money and time. I hope they figure it out before it’s too late.

You said a MOUTH FULL! Right now, there aren't too many places like that, but as fast as Clayton is growing, they need to keep customers happy. I've never been there, been to Magoos, but word of mouth tells me not to go to Mckinleys. And that's what these business owner need to know. Word of mouth can make or break a business

I'm with you, I cant believe they would have the nerve to ask someone about not getting a tip, and then the manager not doing anything about it... unreal

Yep, that's why I was so glad the Draft House opened. I've never ever experienced a rude waitstaff in that place (that's probably why it's always so packed).

I have gotten bad service there also. been there twice but havent been back since. There are too many other places where I can spend my money and get treated right.

They know about it. Once you've been asked to leave, or thrown out, your chances of getting back in there someday are about 1 in 100 and they don't care who you're witih, what you want or why you want to come back.

On another note, they have a great new chef in the kitchen and if you haven't tried any of the new advertised daily specials, or other specials that Chef Howard whips up, you're really missing out.

I'd love to say thanks to Chef Howard and McKinleys for going out of their way to make me a great birthday dinner recently. DH had talked with the chef about making me something off the menu, and they decided on tuna. OMG.. we didn't expect white linens on the table with flowers and a centerpiece. Beautiful dishes & serving pieces were used for presentation. We got a great 4 course meal, each course presented, explained how it was prepared, and served by Howard. Absolutely fantastic, I felt like I was true VIP and was only missing my tiara!! Howard rocks and loves to cook off the menu items when possible. Give him a try!

I'd like it better there if there was some consistency to the waitstaff. I don't like placing my order with one person and then having to deal with just whoever walks by next... I would like it better if they had assigned sections I guess.

    Thrown out I can understand...
Not leaving a tip due to poor service then having the waitress stop you at the door to confront you and ask you why not is a different story. You are not obligated to tip. If they dont want customers to come back to their bad service, then they seriously need to re-think how they run the joint.

New cook or not, I refuse to step foot back in that place. I would rather spend my money somewhere else where I would be treated like a customer and not have to deal with rude confrontations.

I know that can be confusing. It confused me when we first started going.

Its not confusing, I just like to have a dedicated waiter throughout my entire meal. I also don't like that they pool their tips, it means that because I may have felt someone imparticular gave exceptional service and I would like to tip accordingly, that they really won't get all the benefit of that appreciative tip. They'll have to share it with everyone else who didn't do a damn thing for me.

    Tassy,

I have to disagree with you on that one. When my DH was pushed from behind and it knocked me down he asked the waitress why she did that, she went and got the bouncer and about 6 of us were escorted out (and we didn't do a darn thing wrong) and we've been back since then.

My biggest issue with this place is they don't care how their customers are treated period, unless you are a regular and live in that place. I've heard too many complaints from friends, coworkers and neighbors and they all sound about the same.
