We need a newer used car pretty soon. What places around the Clayton, Smithfield area do you like and which should we stay away from? We are a retired couple. Thank you in advance!

I agree w/Ken, but also check out Car Max, the list under blue book and have a good checklist in place where they thoroughly check out these cars before purchasing them.

Matthews Motors on 70 in Clayton.
Bought the work van from him and referred my BIL and SIL to him as well. They bought a new car from him and saved more $$ than going to the dealership!

See Doug at Dwight Adams on 70 in Clayton, across from the old Winn Dixie store (next to RiteAid - formerly Eckerds Drugstore). Tell him the couple that bought his own personal Jeep referred you. He's a great guy!

Craig's List - buy from the owner, look at receipts, have your mechanic check the car over & get a Car Fax.

I second Matthews Motors on Hwy 70, I just bought my second used car for him a few weeks ago and am very pleased! We worked with Charles and were treated wonderfully! Good Luck!

I bought my vehicle from CarMax - BEST deal I've ever gotten on a great car. Their price was their price - no haggling, better than Blue Book - gone over with a fine tooth comb. Not one complaint about the salesman, or the purchase procedure - was out of there 1 1/2 hrs after I spotted my vehicle, with plates and the whole nine yards. Stress free! They give you a lot of finance options - I had a choice of three banks to choose from ( your info is entered into a computer and then within about 15 minutes all of the lenders who wish to deal with you offer up their terms) I've had it for a year and a half now and I'm still thrilled with it - even when I write out the check each month for my payment. . .and that's saying something;) I'll go back there when the time comes for another one - hubby, who always bought new (as I had for the 5 vehicles prior to this one) says he's going to CarMax for his next ride.

We ended up getting our 2007 Sebring at Matthews Motors. We were pleased with them. You guys and gals are all great here!

I have to agree with Harley on this one. Bought my work van from Steve but my personal car from Car Max. Love Car Max but Steve is local and is a decent person. If you have problems he is right around the corner. If you state that you were referred by someone he will give them a $100.00 for referring you. Cannot beat that!

My BIL found the car he wanted at a dealership, MM got the car from them and gave my BIL a better deal! ;)

Will be in the market for a truck for DH (maybe real soon) and will surely go to Steve.
