IF you would like to see Embarq gone form Johnston County

Discussion in 'Discussion Group' started by I_HATE_EMBARQ, Sep 28, 2007.

  1. I am in the process of starting a petition to remove Embarq from Johnston County. If you have had any bad expereinces or interupted service from this company please feel free to email me at IHATEEMBARQ@YAHOO.com. I believe we can all work together to make a change. I for one have had many a horror story as a result of no service form my phone or DSL. I have recently switched to Time Warner and love it! This is just the begining but if you want to make a chaneg send me an email and I will send you the petition info. I declare that I will not use any information collected for any other purpose but to get another phone company in here!

Get internet service through Time Warner and a VOIP for phone ... you'll save $ and have a choice of phone service providers.

I've had problem with them, mostly phone line being disconnected all the time. We already removed the service from them.

time warner voip is to expensive, there are MUCH cheaper options out there if you need a home phone.

and good luck at getting embarg out of joco, they have alot more money than you do

Just wait till your newcomer agreement runs out with TW:evil::evil::evil: If DS did not need the speed he needs for his computers i would definitely find a better way.

TW has several levels of high speed. You can request a lower cost package once your promo runs out. RR lite is about $25 a month.

I cannot stand a monopoly unless it is the game, and maybe not then. Send me a PM and I will sign the petition.

We used to get disconnected from TWC all of the time so I called them to come out. The initial person had connected our internet in with the cable. Once the new guy set the cables up correctly we no longer have problems. I asked for a credit for the initial setup since it was done incorrectly and received one. Good luck.

    They're everywhere

I find it interesting that you refer to Embarq as a monopoly when there are any number of phone companies available to you. You do have choices. What, pray tell, do you call Progress Energy, Bell South and the rest of the utilities? It is a sad fact of life that we have few choices when we live in certain areas but to use the utilities available to us. You could always move to Wake County then you would be forced to use Bell South! Point here, you can't escape them no matter what you do.

As a final note, you can change phone companies as much as you want but the lines they use are owned by the big boys like Embarq, BellSouth, ATT, etc. Can't get away from it. Enjoy your new phone company.

Time Warner's service is not a VoIP. Time Warner does not use the internet to place calls.

If you call them and bug them a bit, they will give you another promotion to keep your business since there are so many competitors out there. You are allowed 2 promotions/year. Therefore, you can keep your same price that you started if you keep up with your promotion end time. Like most providers, they count on you not knowing this and not catching them. Be a little savvy and you will save a few bucks.

I would like to see another electric company something other than progress energy sometimes I think I am paying for some extra houses . My bill changes so different month to month. I do not like embarq either. We need more choices then maybe they will actually try and make their customers happy now we are pretty much stuck with P.E we do have choices with phone companies.

With Digital Phone calls never touch the internet. Data packets carrying voice travels through the TWC network to the regional data center. Then, through various partnerships with the telco companies, they are converted into traditional voice signals and jump onto the public telephone network. From that point on, the call is routed through the telephone network. It also works with all of the phone jacks already installed in your house and requires no extra equipment to operate. It also works WITHOUT broadband service.

VoIP uses the internet to place calls. This, of course, uses more bandwidth and can cause calls to become garbled if the phone and computer are competing for space. It is also less secure. With a VoIP, you have one "modem" or adapter that you have to purchase and you only have one place in the house to use it...near your computer. You HAVE to have a broadband connection for it to work.

Also, the issue with E911 is a problem with most VoIP services. Digital phone has no challenge with it. You can also port your number with digital phone. Alot of VoIP's have a problem with that.

    Hope that helps!
