Well my week was not good last week. But, I wanted to ask if anyone ever got bit by a spider and how they dealt with it. I found out Sat. when I finally went to the docs over it that I did get bit by one. The doc put me on botics, and something else to put on it as it drains, but it looks the same. I was just wondering if anyone else went through this. I just can't get over how painful it was all last week.

I have had two. One turned into a HUGE bump that I needed antibiotics and cream for. The other was recently and had the red line that is supposed to be indicative of a poisonous spider. It was very painful for a week and then it took a few more weeks for the itching and swelling to go away. I have a tiny scar from the "crater". Good luck to you- I think it is good that you went to the doctor. Do you know what kind it was?

    Spider bites

No I don't know what kind it was, I never knew it was a spider bite. The doc said most people don't know they got bit till the swelling and stuff happends. It's progressing slowly, so I don't think it is a rucluse spider (sp), well pretty sure of it cause she didn't think so either. But, she said the common house spider (Hobo spider) is common as well and looks alot like the rucluse. But, I was wondering how long does this take to heal? It's not draining at all, I thought it was on Friday, but it's not now. Will it have to drain to heal?
Sorry if this is gross :)

I did not have drainage. With the second bite I described I had a headache and was very tired for 3 days and the area itself took a few weeks to heal up completely. I did a lot of internet research and I read that if you have drainage it means the bite is infected. That might last a few days-anymore and you should contact the doctor again. With antibiotics and keeping the area clean you should be ok although like I said, it took a while and I have a barely noticeable scar.

    Spider Bite or a BOIL.

    MRSA - Google it...

You would need an MD to tell if it's a Spider Bite or a BOIL. With MRSA all over now... many spider bites are really a MRSA BOIL. If there is PAIN, swelling, fever and drainage... you might have a Boil which needs to be checked for the HELLISH MRSA.

Do not "wait in see" - if it will get better..... get to an MD.

I think she said in her initial post that she had seen an MD last week?

When I got bit I had to get it lanced. It was terrible. I was pregnant at the time and it worried me to death. I do have a scar about the size of a pinkie fingernail that looks like a crater or chicken pox scar. Its gonna be sore for a while! Just keep it clean and don't let it get infected!

I did say above that I went to the docs on saturday, and I thought it was a boil, but she said it wasn't. I'm on meds now. Thanks.

I did call her this morning and she asked how the pain was and I was like it's really not painful anymore, she was like then your on the right track, and she told me just like you said above that it will take a couple of weeks to get over it. I never did run a fever, she felt cause I caught it early? I felt weird on Friday and that was the main reason why I went in.

That is what I thought she was going to do when I went in..I was like please don't lance lol..she said it wasn't bad enough for that. It's better today then it has been in a week. I think with the antibotics and the botic cream will help with the infection. Thanks a bunch!

Yes, I read you went to the MD

    - But others need to know that a Boil or Spider Bite is NOT something to mess around about.

I hope you are well is a jiffy. :)

No doubt!!! nothing to balk at for sure...I was bitten by a brown recluse and I ignored it for 3 days, and I had a 'crater' of black, rotting flesh the size of a golfball, before I went to the doctor. Streaks running all over my body...I had no idea what had happened. The Doc told me if I had waited one more day, I could have lost my leg. I now just have a small fingertip size crater on the inside of my thigh. I was very lucky.

I, also, was bitten by a Brown Reclusive Spider one year on my thumb. The hole started getting deeper and my thumb was red and hurt. I was lucky because my daughter was going to babysit some kids and the mother is a doctor. She took one look at it and knew what it was. She prescribed antibiotics and an ointment. We keep ointments around our house. One year my daughter was bitten by an Eastern Diamondback Snake and talk about scared, wow! She thought is was a prickly bush when she came into the house but when I saw the swelling start to move up her hand I grabbed her and we took off to a neighbor's house who is a nurse. She diagnosed it right away. By the time we reached Johnston Memorial Hospital she was swollen up to her elbow. They rushed us back and had the anti-venom. Needless to say, my daughter has not played in that area near the golf course since.

Talking about snakes, I just killed one IN MY HOUSE, At 1pm. Had to run out to the shed, fetch a shovel and ran back in, I think the snake was sleeping cause it was shocked when I killed it in broad daylight! It wasn't curled up, it was stretched out along the baseboard in the livingroom, about 3 ft. long,,,,talk about a wake up call.....God I hope I don't have anymore in the house......I thought I was going to faint my heart was beating so hard....

OMG, my heart was pounding so hard I thought I was going to faint... but I had to do it.....wouldn't want this thing wrapped around my neck while I am sleeping...if I can sleep tonite thinking where there is one, there is another! But i think cause we had sprayed around the perimeter of the house yesterday for spiders and bugs, somehow the snake didn't like it and got in an open door at that time,,, I hope that's what happened.
