Raleigh — A Raleigh woman has been charged with animal cruelty after five malnourished dogs were seized from her property, police said Monday.

Sharita L. Grady, 26, of 704 Quarry St., was charegd with five counts of animal cruelty and was being held in the Wake County Jail on a $2,000 secured bond.

Four American Staffordshire terrier mix dogs and a pit bull mix were taken from Grady and placed in the custody of SPCA of Wake County, police said.

Grady also was cited for not keeping the rabies shots up to date on one of dogs.

Fairly obvious she was not rescuing these poor dogs.

Probably neither breeder, or rescuer - my guess is she's another ignorant SOB who shouldn't own an animal.

Sorry guys, my previous comment was quite ugly, even for cynical me. . .

I'm just sick to death of people who have kids and animals they don't take care of. My biggest problem is these people who don't feed or properly care for their animals can easily get rid of them. Drop them off at a shelter - call animal control to come pick them up - something, anything - - you can't pass off your children as easily - but children learn to talk and leave their homes. . .they aren't stuck for life. . .animals are.

If she cared about those dogs at all, she could have contacted a rescue, or the SPCA and they would have given her options of getting free food till she got on her feet - if money was a problem OR arranged for her to surrender the dogs.

Like I've said before on many occasions - THERE ARE WORSE THINGS THAN BEING EUTHANIZED - starving to death is one of them.

I did not think it was too harsh zoo. Precisely accurate really. Good news is that she does not own the pups any longer, they are at the SPCA.

Hows about if we starve her for punishment, and chain her around a tree with no water or shelter against the weather. I think we should treat these types of people the way they've treated the animals and see if they might learn something from it.
