I need help finding a place to make a baby shower cake. I would like to avoid Dairy Queen and grocery stores, but I'm having a hard time finding anywhere local.

Cleveland Cake & Coffee, behind Smithfield BBQ. We got a birthday cake there recently, and it was marvelous! A few dollars more than Food Lion, but much, much better - well worth the difference in price.

Big Steve's Bagels in the 210 Food Lion shopping center. His daughter is making cakes up there now and I can tell you from first hand experience that they are awesome! VERY VERY affordable (I think she's doing it way too cheap). She has a book up there on the counter and there are some beautiful cakes in there!

Cleveland is the place to go. My sister got a baby shower cake and they customized it using the plates for the shower. It turned out beautiful and tastes great. Also, they are the only bakery I know that does 2 layers (like a real cake) YUMMY! We use them for all special occasions.

I second Jenny's in Benson. She has beautiful cakes and other desserts in their too. Good luck. Cleveland coffee Co is nice too and closer. Either one you will not go wrong!

GranolaAcresMayor also does cakes and since she does them out of her home the price is a lot better and they are so fresh and moist. Any of you gals that showed up at our private party that Jenn was hosting at the Clubhouse a year or so ago will remember the cake she made for me for the party and she also did one for me to thank Dr. R. and staff for being such a great dentist and staff and they all said it was one of the best cakes they had ever eaten. If you are interested, pm me and i will give you her number.

Hi, I can make/decorate cake/cookie/candy, for any events. I have an appointment with the health inspector coming up this month (finally - I can't wait to become a licensed baker!) and once I become licensed, I will accept orders. As of now, I only make cakes for friends and people I knew of. Making and selling cakes without a bakery license is illegal.

No, I don't work for Cleveland Cake and Coffee. I've seen their works and they are really good. The people there are nice, too. :)

Here's my latest cookie design that I made for my website portifolio, soon to be published:

Get out!! I did not know that. I love making cakes and have made a few in the past (less than 1/2 dozen) for friends and family.

How do you become a licensed baker... even if you do it out of your home?

That I didn't know either, and why do you need to be licensed? This is something I will ask my Bakery manager at work today.
