I know you should never clean an area with ammonia that you don't want the cat using as a litterbox, but what about bleach? Happy healthy little cat Jasmine just peed in my fresh sheets! :x Litterbox is clean and nothing's changed. I always use bleach on my white sheets, and no other cat of mine has ever done this.
Oh my! Could Jasmine be mad at you for something, wouldn't think that fresh, bleached sheets would make her want to pee on them.
I can't imagine what... she's spoiled rotten! I don't really think that's it anyway. Usually there's a reason they do something like that, other than being mad. I'll keep my eye on her very closely for the next few days to be sure nothing is wrong with her. She climbed into bed with us and slept all night between us last night. That is unusual, my husband said she was trying to make up.
Actually Peaches, the odor of bleach is a deterrant to cats, rather than an attraction, when it comes to looking for a place to releive themselves. Maybe kitty is trying to tell you something - like maybe she's not feeling well? Many a good pet will go potty in a 'no-no place' as a signal to their owners that something is amiss health-wise.
That's strange, I have noticed one of my cats acts weird when I am using bleach to clean with, not necessarily deterred from the area either, she starts rolling around in the floor. But she is one weird cat anyway.
That's what I thought, about the bleach being a deterrant. Guess I was hoping for the easy answer. I emptied the litterbox this morning and scrubbed it with mild detergent, hoping that if it was stinky to her that would take care of it. I really don't think she's sick, but I will keep watching. I'm hoping for "isolated incident" as INTHEBUFF said. And just in case she does associate that smell with urine, only non-chlorine bleach on the sheets from now on! Thanks! It's nice to have so many people on this board that know a little something about so many things!
Vinegar & water works great in cleaning out a litterbox. You can also use it in your wash as a softner (although I have yet to use it) Take kitty to the vet, like the previous posters have said, kitty might not be feeling well.
That's what my neighbor thought, when they dumped bleach all over the baited cat trap in my sandbox....
