that if I have a light out on my car, I get a ticket and I see people doing worse? If I did half the things I see, I'd have 18 cops behind me and probably the SWAT team. I just don't understand.......I got a ticket for a headlight out.....Not a warning, a TICKET. Now, I plan on having it dismissed but good golly miss molly!!!

I understand this. It irks me to no end when folks drive down the road blowing all kinds of black smoke in my face. Can we get a cop to ticket that ever?

well theres usually not a cop around when things like that happen :) when the police pull over a car for a light out its what they call "felony headlight", (IM NOT CALLING YOU A FELON) but that is how they catch most felons believe it or not!!! also cops get tired of giving out warnings for things like that, my dh gives out warnings all the time and hears the same ole story "oh it just happend" or "oh i was on the way to get it fixed" yea yea blah blah. he got tired of it and now hands out tickets!

If I was a cop, I would be pulling all the people with exhaust issues, driving too slow, stuff flying out of the back of their trucks, and people who flick cigarettes out the window......I would be the 'peoples cop'

    Teehee....

    for real though.....

oh ok you want to know about that one! ok so the other day i was on the way home and i saw a hispanic lady with 10 kids (yes I counted them!) in a old toyota suv, so i called the hwy patrol since i was too far out for a city cop, they took my info and was supposivley going to send an officer out there. i got home and told dh and he said that there was nothing that they would of done BC (get this!) "if that was their only means of transportation and they couldnt afford anything then they couldnt give them a ticket!

well there are many reasons I am not a cop. BUT IF I WERE, I would still pull people for all that stuff, because I was a cop.

And definitely those with 'carloads' would be inconvenienced also. ;)

My neighbor has lived here over a year is driving a car with out of state tags that expired more than a year ago ... the windshield is noticeably cracked, the passenger side mirror AND rear passenger window are broken...I think the rear view mirror is gone, too (most of those damages are separate incidents by her children). On top of that they, including the children, rarely wear seat belts. And you get a ticket for a non-working headlight.

I did not know that, or don't remember learning that, I guess I should say. I am pretty sure I am not going to go 55 on backroads. :)

I could have understood them giving you a "fix-it" ticket, but it seems a little harsh unless you may have been seen before driving without the light. Anyway, I assume you were polite to the LEO. Often times, if you do too much questioning of authority or providing excuse after excuse that'll rile them.

I would be interested in knowing what town you were in. Seems that I, along with others have noticed that a particular eastern town in Wake County has had overzealous law officers in the past.

It's the law... Like it or not... but it is! :)
I did not like getting a speeding ticket a few months ago, but I was the one driving the car. There are bad people who get tickets.... it just sux when good ones get it. LOL
