Since last year I've been cutoff at several gas stations when I use my debit card @ $50. I think it has something to do with getting the pre-approval and they can't get it for more than $50 on a debit card. $50 used to be more than enough for a fill-up on the majority of vehicles. Maybe the industry ought to look at bumping that up to $60. When I use my debit card as the credit card option, I don't get the cut-off @ $50. Or when I use a real credit card, I don't get the $50 cutoff.

ok so they (bjs) told me that their pumps have to read a card for them to turn on, whether it be a debit credit or membership card! how dumb!

I will not go back to a store that does that. They charge you 2.76 a gallon and then expect you to get in under fitty?

It's not the debit card, it's the station. They set their pumps for a max of $50 (or sometimes less) to prevent huge losses for those who pump and drive off.

Well.. then how come with a debit card it cuts me off, and a real credit card it doesn't (at the same station)??
