I was downtown the other day and two young kids tried to rob me. when I resisted they set on me and starting kicking the crap out of me. A guy I knew and know to be gay and his partner saw this and came to my assistance, but as a decent god fearing american I told them I didn't want their perverted help and preferred to get beat up. I feel well deserved pride in myself. Now if I could just stop peeing blood.
Whether it's necessary or the way you introduce yourself is not the point that was being discussed. The fact remains that, on your first post in this thread, you described yourself as a homosexual woman:
OH, God I was trying to stay out of this one. Ken, I disagree. A confession is when you do something wrong like commit a murder............she hasn't done anything to "confess" for. In my opinion.
con·fessplay_w("C0559700") (kn-fs) v. con·fessed, con·fess·ing, con·fess·es v.tr. 1. To disclose (something damaging or inconvenient to oneself); admit. See Synonyms at acknowledge. 2. To acknowledge belief or faith in; profess. 3. a. To make known (one's sins) to God or to a priest. b. To hear the confession of (a penitent). v.intr. 1. To admit or acknowledge something damaging or inconvenient to oneself: The suspect confessed to the crime. 2. a. To disclose one's sins to a priest. b. To listen to a confession. See, I can google too. I think the general consensus would be that a "confession" is to admit you did something bad. If you want to split hairs, you are technically correct. But I still think your wrong.
See.............this is why I didn't want to get into it. Carry on, I am done. I bow to the great intellect of Ken today.
I guess it's my turn today ........................... Ken, I know you are a nice guy IRL, or so I've heard. You just don't have wield a sledgehammer to get your point across sometimes. Clif will get his chance to pick at me on something else I am sure.
Your just like my DH!   You've won the argument! I GET it, I was WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!! Slinking off to go do something worthwhile with my time, feed the hungry or something.
Absolutely! The word "confession" implies wrong-doing - as, a self-confessed spy or shoplifter or whatever. However, aside from word choice, Ken's original comment makes a good point - there may be those on this forum, judgmental types, who will attack her based on her sexual orientation. At the same time, stating her sexual orientation as a basis for her opinion adds something to the reader's understanding of the opinion.
Here we go again... The word "confession" could also simply mean to declare faith in or adherence to or to give evidence of (as a synonym of "profess").
