I was hoping to see something on the news about this, but does anyone know what happened last night going into downtown clayton from old 70. The intersection of old 70 and shotwell was blocked off and all you could see were blue lights. I talked with my neighbor and he said the police were coming as far away as durham.
Just talked to dispatch for CPD. Drug officer went to make arrest, subject didn't want to go back to prison, standoff ensued, subject shot and killed self. Ken Pearce was his name, @53 years old, CHS class of '73. In and out (mostly in) of prison for drug related offenses most of life. Actually a pretty nice fellow. I Hate he wasted his life like he did.

I am pretty sure I remember him from a long time ago but I haven't seen him lately. That's pretty sad.
I went to school with Ken pretty much ever since 1st grade. Nice guy , good athlete in High School. Some folks go down the drug road and never come back. It's a shame.
