I called Johnston County Public Utilities and reported them. The lady there said that they are on county water. She said they are in violation of the restrictions because the only two days you can water right now are Tues. and Wed. depending on your address and then of course next week all outdoor watering will be banned. The fact that they are also watering in the rain just adds insult to injury. Anyway, she is reporting it and sending someone out to check. It just really makes me angry when I have 5 buckets sitting on my deck trying to catch some water to mop my floors, etc. and trying to save in every other way I can think of. I don't like the idea of taking 3 minute showers so that they can water their grass. Grrrr. Okay, I'm done.
Ditto. My husband laughs out loud eveytime we're in Lowe's and the sale person is recommending to someone the best type of fescue to buy, he looks at the sales person and says "you just love having them come back every year to buy more seed don't ya"
It's okay, my DH is a professional. I just like it green all year round. OK. It's a little brown in the summer - but less mowing during those heat waves!! I don't feel too bad though, even that lawn on Shiloh/Cornwallis took a beating this year! Now THAT was a nice lawn.
See? Fescue ain't all bad!! It looks nice in the spring/fall/winter. Summer... hang it up. I imagine we are ALL going to be mowing our ***** off after tis rain is gone!!
Fescue is like green velvet. We have centipede. :-( Although I must admit it really is greening up after all this rain and will be just fine I think. Would have to re-do at least patches of a fescue lawn.
fescue is a fall and winter grass anyway. It just went dorment this summer because of the drought. Centipede and Bermuda are great grasses for the heat. I had it to in Riverwood.
Did ya know, there are more people with allergies to fescue than any other grasses. Our other house had a fescue yard and my kids would itch to death after an afternoon play outside in it, my oldest had horrible allergies during this time. After mentioning this to the doctor I work with he called a friend of his that's an allergy specialist at Duke and he said that she very well could be allergic to the grass pollen during summer. Sure enough we moved and got away from the hardwoods and fescue grass my daughter very rarely takes any allergy relief meds. Thank the heavens above.
