    Oh I agree totally.

Disclaimer - I too, am a nerd...I first struck up a conversation with Amanda by discussing Hemingway with her. How nerdy is that?

I've always went trick or treating when my mammy dressed me up and said
    "go get daddy some candy!"

Since I've had kids I take them on Oct 31st ... I don't care if the day lands on the moon.

I didn't grow up in NC - but I am from the South. When Halloween landed on Sunday - the day we trick-or-treated was Saturday. I really don't care which date we trick-or-treat. I'm not attached to the day - just the tradition of trick-or-treating. I want my family to participate on which ever date the majority of others are doing it. I only think we should really trick-or-treat on one night - and folks should only have to be prepared to hand out candy on one night. If grownups can't compromise on things like this - it sure sends a bad message to the kids. Taking an "It's my way or no way attitude" isn't always the best course. There are folks from all over the US here. We all have different traditions ... and sometimes we all have to compromise. In any case - I've never heard of Halloween being changed - other than when it landed on a Sunday. So far Halloween has only landed on Sunday once since we moved to NC. I asked friends & neighbors and although some folks had bad attitudes about the question even being asked - the majority of folks I questioned did say they were trick-or-treating on Saturday ... so that's when my family participated. I'm sure my family would have had a wonderful time whether we celebrated Halloween on the 30th or 31st. There are issues I would be willing to fight for... but which evening Halloween is celebrated on just isn't one of them. Because it appears the majority of others in the area will be Trick-or-treating on the 31st this year - my family will be celebrating the 31st. I'm sure we will have a blast just like we always have in the past ... no matter which night we celebrated on.

You are NEVER too old. However, I do like to have kids tagging along with me so I don't get too many ugly looks while I'm out trick-or-treating :) Before I was lucky enough to be a Mom, I would borrow my nieces & nephews to take out trick-or-treating or volunteer to help a neighbor with their kids. I think anyone who dresses up should get to trick-or-treat no matter how old they are. What I don't like is when teenagers (not wearing costumes) show up asking for Candy. If you want free candy ... dress for the occasion.

Big kids who don't dress up just get a lollipop from me. The more imaginative the costume, the more generous I am with the treats!

    I hate halloween. <vomit>

Looking back at pictures - good god. I had the WORST costumes EVER. One picture, I think I was supposed to be a punk rocker but looked like a hooker

Oh and about 5 years ago (my last dress up) I went as that Areial chick. Took some mauveish material, wrapped a skirt around my hiney and the other part of the material I made a tube top out of it. Yeah, it was really classy - still looked like a hooker
