Any hints? Lint-covered clothes from dryer

Does anyone have any suggestions about how to stop lint from covering clothes in the dryer?

I am so sick of putting wet clothes in the dryer, and then pulling them out dry, but covered with lint. Then I have to spend a lot of time, removing the lint with a lint brush before they are wearable. My dryer has a lint trap, which I clean off before each use, but still lint on everything.

    Any suggestions?

I had the same situation before. The cause of the problem is lint built-up inside the lint trapper. You need to clean it out inside. I mean inside, not just the lint screen that you can scrape it off before starting your dryer. It's where you put the screen in - so using your flashlight, you can be able to see inside and find plenty of "left-over" lint in there. I use my sweeper hose to suck it out. After that, no more lint on the clothes. Try it and see if that'll work for you.

AL - Cake Princess is right. I use my long nozzle on my Dyson Purple Animal - 3+ years old, used twice a day and still running strong :) God, I love that thing. . .and suck out the area where the lint trap goes. If you have a tunnel-type vac, you won't believe how much stuff you are able to collect! I do it once a month. The first time I did it, I was shocked to see how fast clothes dried after. . .now, keeping up with it, it always dries fast.

She is doing just wonderfully! Remember how skinny she was? about 4.5 pounds. Well she ballooned up to over 13.5 pounds! Dr. Beam said she was obsessed with food, since she almost starved. Well she's been on a diet for 3 YEARS! And she just got down to 9'15" almost to goal. (If I had been dieting with her, with that percentage weight loss, I'd be thin too!)

AL, also be aware that the whole lint system needs to be cleaned for safety reasons. My MIL keeps warning my wife about how this is a source of house fires.

Not only should you vacuum out the link hose but once a month one should take the lint trap and clean it with a toothbrush and soap. You will be amazed at the lack of link and how quick the clothes get dry. Make sure you do both once a month.

We have a schedule in our house. On the first of the month we replace and clean all filters in each vent, vacuum out the dryer hose, clean the filter with saod and water, etc.

Yup, and no matter how clean I know the vent and trap are, I still NEVER run my dryer when I'm going to be out. So many people turn on their dryers and leave-the thought of a fire, especially when I'm not home and the critters are alone - it scares the stuffing out of me.

Take a disposal razor and and shave the piece of clothing. This really does work!

Not a stupid question at all. You'd be amazed how many people do not know not to put towels in with other clothes. Recently, while stying with my Mother during a trip home to attend MIL's funeral, my Mom washed some of my clothes while I was out. She put a white towel in the dryer with all of my DARK clothes, including black pants. And then, she was shocked that they were covered with lint when she pulled them out of the dryer. :? . Wondering who it was that taught me not to put towels in with other clothes now:?

I washed a WHOLE ROLL of TP this summer with a load of darks... It was a nightmare.

I have no idea how I tossed in a roll of TP, but yes, I did. What a mess.

    Grrrrrrrrr.

Hate that for you! I was notorious for washing Kleenex with ours there for a while, when DS was younger and you always had to have one handy.

My DH is famous for putting a paper towel in his back pocket when he's doing outside work. If I forget to check his back pockets, I end up with a load of shredded paper towel all over everything! :-(

That's better than Chapstick, I am terrible for not checking pockets, esp. my own. What a mess.

 I did that with blistex. DH gave me a raft of **** for not checking his pockets.. That's ok. I gave it back when he washed a pair of my jeans that not twenty minutes earlier I told him to take my diamond earrings out of the right pocket. He didn't.

Then again ... I am pretty lucky to have a man that doesn't mind doing laundry. I'll take help with house work over earrings any day. 8)
