In the last ten minutes I've heard a bunch of emergency vehicles heading the direction of WJHS. Wondering if there is an accident there this morning. Maybe they are heading toward I-40?

When I left home this am, there were 9 sheriff cars within a mile and a half radius. I didn't hear any sirens.

    Ok here’s the scoop…
An older green car – something like a ford taurus, traveling what looked to be north bound on Raleigh road caught fire at about 7:26 am. The car was off the road just north of Sanders Road and before the old white house that they just fixed up with the horses, ( if you were traveling south bound). It doesn’t look like anyone was hurt just a melted car. I was there and was stuck in that mess of traffic that was trying to get to the school. My kiddo called the school and I believe they were excusing those that come from that direction only from being marked as late.
The sheriff’s cars are another story. They were set up on every road that leads to the school to catch teenage morning speeders. The fire interrupted all that. I would watch my butt though, since I am certain they will try it again.

Yeah, I was right behind the car, saw the flames under the car right before they pulled over, then flames shooting out the side of the hood. I was able to get around it, I didn't stop because I didn't have a fire extinguisher or anything with me. Got my cell phone out to call 911 and it was dead! Stopped at the sheriff's car at the bridge and told him, so he called and headed up there. Glad everyone got out okay.

There were sheriff cars on Sanders Rd. this afternoon checking licenses. Good to see them out there!

Don't take this the wrong way, Pepper...but the way you described the location was so "from the country". "...before the old white house that they just fixed up with the horses...".

I found it lovely, because folks don't tell you how to get there from here like that anymore. These days, when folks give you directions or tell you where something is, they use fast-food restaurants and shopping malls as the landmarks.

What a breath of fresh air. Thank you for that.
