So, I got digital cable a few weeks ago. What a rip! The dayum thing goes out constantly. A blank screen, or it is all pixeled. WTH??? Grrrr.... Guess I will call when the girls take their nap. Any do it yourself techniques? I hate being on hold.

sounds like a signal strength issue. it could be that your house was constructed before the high speed lines were installed in the area and your connectors need to be replaced (twc does that no charge). it could be that (like me) the tv towers are so close to the cable signal on the mhz scale that there is interference. it could be that you just need one of those little plug-in signal booster deals (i got one, also no charge).

stay on hold. it's a pain in the *** to wait, but once you get them out there they'll stay at it until you're fixed. at least until your cable is fixed...

Sounds like you have a weak signal. They'll have to come out and install an amplifier (their cost).

They really should have checked the signal strength when they came out to deliver the box(es).

Yes, but will they give me free stuff for my pain and suffering? Do you know how hard it is to post with a 3 YO biatching about the TV? AND I need to make lunch. Guess I better hurry while the picture is coming through!!

Have you tried resetting it. Unplug for 10 sec or so. It does sound like a signal thing though.

Funny you mention it. They were going to do a QA call the other day, to make sure everything was installed properly. I forgot and went to the grocery store!!

<sigh> Another pain in my ***.... It is above the fireplace. I have to get the step stool. Will try that, though. Right before I call.

    Try rebooting it.
Hold down the power button for a few seconds, you will see it reboot.

    Works everytime for me!

I unplugged it for 20 seconds, and it rebooted when I turned it back on. So far so good.

We had the same thing earlier this year when we went digital. It turned out that the line coming from the cable box at the road underground to our house was older (installed about 10 years ago) and wasn't strong enough. TWC sent a crew out to install a new line from the road to the house and covered it. No problem since.

That's what happened to us,(last week) we had cable come out and it was the signal strength.... got a new box and all the connectors had to be replaced, some were 10 years old and rotting.. the one at the box was old and wasn't even connected properly... so call....... I was told that the people that initially install and hook up everything for you are paid Contractors and they don't have the equipment and expertise that the actual cable guys have,... so when you make an appt.. tell them you do NOT want a contractor,, you want a cable guy in a Time Warner Cable Van to come out...

Same here....I had to have all new connectors because the ones put in the house were cheap. It was causing feedback which caused the digital channels (100 & up) to freeze and skip. There was also an amp put in my bedroom. I got lucky, I had a tech who took pride in his work and he really did what everyone is supposed to do in the first place. It also should not cost you a dime. Once this repair was made, I haven't had anymore problems. Good luck!

I want a package with the channels we WATCH on there. History, Fox, TBS, WRAL and that's it.

Paying 88/mo for a bunch of junk.

That is exactly what we had, with frame freezing and skipping with certain channels under 100 and just about everything about 100. We are fine now also, so Cleo, you need to call twc and they will fix the whole thing for free...it is very aggravating trying to watch tv like that, especially when there are alot of tv addicts in my house.....

Hey Robbie, I called yesterday before I saw your post. They are coming on Tuesday, sometime betwen 10am and my death.... Anyway, I will call back about having a Time Warner Tech be the one to perform the work. Truth be told, I would feel safer with a uniform and TW Van than a few guys in a truck showing up.

    Thanks.
