I have no clue what to get my daughter this yr. She is 7, but she isn't girly girly by no means. I keep asking her what she wants from Santa, but man it's like pulling teeth with her this yr. I don't know where to even start. Sheri
for my little one he wants the smart cycle which he is 3 and cars and trucks and all the usual boy stuff.. no idea for a 7 year old.
I had my two little ones (6yr old & 8 yr old) sit down and write me a list. FOund out my 8 yr old is the less "wanting" one. His first thing in the list was a toy for Copper (our dog). That warmed my heart.
Well my daughter has never been greety, but man she is making it hard this yr. There was always one or two things that she wanted. I have had her look at toy books and just flyers. Now she does like the transvomers (sp), but I know nothing about that stuff. I guess I need to take a walk around toys r us and go from there. We don't have the Wii, or Playstations or none of that stuff. She has never asked for it so I figured the longer I can hold off on that the better I am. She has the handheld gameboy that she is still using for two yrs, but she has like 30 differant games and I didn't want to upgrade to something newer and not use the games she has now. Sheri
Have to watch on recalls this year. I was in target the other day and most aisles has recalls posted.
Well, I'm going to have my daughters make their lists, but my oldest is getting her own digital camera, whether she asks for one or not, because I'm tired of her messing with mine! I have no idea what they want this year!
Now if only BOOKS topped The Wants list! We had to put the boot on the JUNKY toys that the Grandparents loaded on us the last 2 years. Augh!!! Total Junk, broken after 2-3 days & just crap. Now we are on a Books ONLY kick.
   I've gotten smart, Now I buy all my grand kids gift Certificates, that way the parents don't complain any more. Makes for a more merrier Christmas.
I wish I could get our Grands on that plan... Of just to give college funds - no need to try to shop for the kids at Junky-Toys-R-Us. Aughhh!!!
Funny you should mention boot and kick. If all they are getting is books, thats what the other kids are going to do to them Get em' some cool toys, even if they only play with them once and then break them. I'm 36 and I can still remember (not fondly) when I was about 8 or 9 we only got school supplies for Christmas.
Here's what we have tried to do: Parents Give Toys (Santa's gifts) Books Grands Give/Gifts (choice): 1 church outfit 1 school outfit 1 pr shoes socks & undies (Oh how fun!) special Sports gear 1 month of special sports (ie:Gymnastics, YMCA sport etc) Books Hair cut trip w/ Grands College Funds (cannot touch till college)* * this is Soooo not a Car account or other cash out at will mad money*
I do ALL of my shopping online and have been doing it for years. I have not been to a mall or store (unless I simply cannot get it online) in a looooong time shopping for Christmas items. I may go to the store to look at the item far in advance of buying it but the final purchase is online. No door dings, no lines, no crowds.........I love it!

I would never ever tell my parents what they should/should not buy my girls. I mean, they always say, what do they want/need? But I would never ask them not to buys toys for them. That's part of the fun of being a grandparent, right? Spoiling your grandkids?
