I know some of you may not be aware of this but it is National Adoption Month. This is especially close to my heart as I have been touched by the power of adoption 7 times. Adoption has changed so much over the years. There are many different types of adoption to fit each families' needs and different desires to build their family through the gift of adoption. There are domestic, international, private, foster care adoptions to name a few. I just wanted to spread the word and really make people understand that this is something that can truly change a life. If anyone ever would like some adoption information, even if just curious, than please don't hesitate to ask me. I am an adoption advocate and do work for a non-profit adoption ministry. I am NOT an agency. More or less an adoptive mom helping out others to learn more about this gift of love...the gift of a forever family. There are hundreds of thousands of children waiting for their families. Here is a poem that may explain how a waiting child feels: Another Child Waits I've watched my friends go home from here, to their families, one by one, Yet here I stay thru all these years, Waiting for you to come. I know that I'm not perfect, Yet they tell me that I'm bright, I just wish that you could only look, past what is wrong, to what is right. I've watched my friends go home from here, I dream of how that'd feel, A pair of loving arms to hold me, Will this dream ever become real? I know that I would be home by now, If not for fears of the unknown, Yet I have many of my own you see, In that you're not alone. I've watched my friends go home from here, It's happening to Meili today, But wait! Her Mama has something for me, I take it and don't know what to say. With trembling hands, I open the book, And peek at what's inside, A picture of a family, "Can this be true?" I cried! I've watched my friends go home from here, It's my turn now, it's true, I linger at the gate for one last time, Then bravely walk on out with you. I hope everyone stops to think just a moment of all the children that anxiously await their forever families to come for them. Thousands wait in foster care and in orphanages around the world. Just wanted to let everyone know it is National Adoption Awareness Month. Have a great weekend!!! Stephanie--mom to 7
Another GREAT adoption poem The Adoption Creed Not flesh of my flesh, Nor bone of my bone. But still miraculously My own. Never forget For a single minute You didn't grow under my heart, But in it.
I have this one framed. I, too, advocate adoption and extend a hand to anyone needing help (just PM me). Grace
