Hi All, I need your help!!! I am currently looking for a location to hold a charity function. (The place I had in mind isn't big enough.) I need a restaurant to hold about 150 guests (plus workers) for a reverse raffle where hors d'oeuvres will be served. (No sit down dinner.) As this is a charity function, $$ is a huge deal!!! Last time we did this it was at Have a Good Day Cafe which is no longer open. Any suggestions??
My polling place off of Barber Mill Road (I believe it is Calvary something or other Church) they had a pretty good sized hall where the polling was being held. To me it looked like it would be a good fit for a charity doing (seems to have lots of parking also).
In the past, drinking has been a big part of the event, which excludes most churches. I haven't called Landmark yet, honestly I have assumed it would be too expensive.
Chops has a room to the right upon entering where I have seen many a gathering. Please post what you ever find!
Not mine, hell they have wine tasting parties. Unfortunately they are in Raleigh. Isn't their a Catholic Retreat just outside Cleveland School on the way to Smithfield? I doubt they would have an issue.
I have used that room at Chops for a family dinner before...too small. The great thing about using a restaurant is we don't have to coordinate with a caterer and that seems to be cheaper b/c everything is already on site. The hard part is finding a restaurant big enough and willing to close for the event. I am contacting the places you have suggested b/c you never know until you ask!!! I will keep you updated with my progress!!!
I would say you could do this at the Clayton Civitan Building. If you need a member to help PM me. The Armory in Smithfield, also comes to mind. Depending on the charity some restaurant owners will donate location and some food. Grace
Just wanted to update you....we went with The Wagner House...they have been great to work with!! Our fundraiser is next Friday, the 11th!!! There are still tickets available!! Again, this is a Reverse Raffle to benefit the Johnston County Habitat for Humanity!!
