Another possibility is that the child could give the caf worker an incorrect number. Unless it's not valid or it's obviously wrong (like it's for a "Jennifer" and there is a boy standing there),I don't know that the caf worker will refute it. Or should.
It's not only students who could be using the wrong number. My first year in JCS I put $20 on my account on Monday. On Thursday, I had no money left, and I'd brought my lunch one day! According to the account information, I had lunch three times in one day. Two of those times, I had 3 slices of Papa John's pizza (for each time...6 slices plus a lunch, WOW!). Those other 2 times, I'd been teaching class. I never did find out what TEACHER was using my number although, once I stood up in the staff meeting and explained that only I had number XXXX, and that who ever'd used it owed me $15, the double charging stopped. Whoever it was never did pay me back.....
Let me explain it again. LOL. I don't remember the exact details it was a few years ago. Before school started, i gave the lunch ladies a check to be applied to my son's account. I wrote his name on the check. The money was never applied correctly to his account. My son took several items for lunch. When it came time to pay, he was told that he did not have money on his account so they did not allow him to take that lunch. The did provide him with the free vegetables. Jen
Somewhat random side note... I ate lunch w/ DS on Wed at CES. It was a great meal! Yes, GREAT! I had the fried chicken, butter beans, boiled potatoes and a salad. It was all fresh, seasoned & very tasty. DS had a hot dog, beans & peaches... Cafeteria Workers at CES =Thank you !
I know there is a website that offers this service, not sure if it is nationwide though, my girlfriend in VA has it for her daughter's lunch account. I will ask her for the site, and pass it on, maybe anybody that knows the proper channels could pass it on. It is an independent service, not a school provided service, so I'm not sure if there are fee's, I really didnt pay much attention when she sent it to me, as our schools were not on it.
Thanks!! If it helps and makes things easier for parents, kids and schools all the way around, I think it would be awesome! Please let me know! You can PM me if you like!
From their site it looks like the students in Gaston County NC use MealPay.com http://www.foodserve.com / www.myschoolaccount.com looks like this company uses biometrics/fingerprinting when students pass trhough the line. I don't think they actually save a copy of the childs fingerprint - just points of reference. http://www.m2sys.com/pr041206.htm This company is located in NC If you search on POS (Point-of-Sale) & School Lunches you will see lots of different companies who offer software that allows parents access to see what their children are eating at school over the internet.
Thanks!!! Now, who is this "Tony Parker" and how can I get a hold of him? I wanna go through all the right channels and chain of command. But if I have to over step I will.

I had a similar situation with my son. I couldn't figure out why his money ran out so quickly week after week (I paid 20 dollars per week). As I went to his cafe one day unannounced, there he is, eating junk food. He bought chips, cookie, etc and didn't get regular lunch there because he hate that kind of foods they offer on that day. To my shock, chip cost 90 cents! No wonder why money disappeared. I had a long talk with my son and he said most of the time he doesn't like foods there, except Friday (of course, it's Pizza Friday). We agreed that I should pack his lunch and that he will have food to eat instead of eating junks when they offer least favorite choice of foods.
