I don't count as a Marine but my dad was one for 28 years! He's retired now. But he is going to the Marine Corps Ball tonight in New York as the guest of honor. Their balls are always incredible.

Just also wanted to say hello to fellow Marines and thank you, thankyou, thank you for all you do. It does not go unnoticed.

    Take care,

    Stephanie--mom to 7

Was day dreaming earlier about the Marine Corps Balls i made it to. Tried my darndest to find something in the local area going on tonight that i could go swap war stories with other Marines, but had no luck. Im sure your dad will have a flood of memories attending that ball tonight.

Thanks Georgiared. He served a long time. He was up for general but decided to retire to get a taste of civilian life--LOL. You can tell he misses it. My brother now serves and is stationed in Japan. He loves it but never has had the passion my dad did for it. So now, my brother will get out in May when he comes back stateside. My dad though and his Corps buddies are still tight after all these years. It is amazing the bond they have. Stories I recall just living on base. When my dad would take his men out in the field my mom and I used to sneak bags of 3 musketeers bars in thier stuff. Sure beat MRE's---LOL.

I know he misses it and his time there. So, this ball tonight and actually being the guest of honor will be a thrill for him. And your right, the memories probably will come flooding back as he hasn't been to one of these in years. My mom said he was just excited to fit into his dress blues--LOL.

Take care and do hope you find some other Marines around here. Great group of men who always seem to put others first.
