Had a drunk in downtown Raleigh recently at high noon. It's easy to stand out when you're swerving all over the road and your back bumper is about to fall off because you previously hit something.

    Several pedestrians almost got hit.

I got him stopped in front of the Capitol Bldg at Fayetteville St. (I actually had to block him in.)

We bonded right off the bat.

He kept telling me I was #1 with him using his middle finger, and although he spoke very broken English in some African dialect, he had the words "FU" down pat.

    Funny guy.

Also had a fella and his friends riding their horses one evening.

    One rider had been drinking.

His horse got antsy in the middle of the road and spun the rider off onto the pavement.

Bad timing. Along came a car and plastered the guy.

    He didn't survive.

Alcohol and the highway just don't go together.

Kent that's just plain sad. Just shows what alcohol does. People lose ability to think rationally. That fellow must have felt mighty embarrassed in the aftermath.

Fella sounds like he has a wonderful relationship with his wife.

He said if he doesn't make that beer run she's going to stab him in the face.

I guess in his inebriated mind a DWI was better than an ice pick in the forehead.

    Looked kinda staged.

I agree it did kind of look staged. However 20 some years ago when we were living in Monticello, GA we had one of our fine residents get pulled over for drunk driving and they chained his bicycle to the stairs of city hall.

Monticello was where they shot the scenes for My Cousin Vinny.

You know, that thought crossed my mind also.

One reason is the dash cam was running as the LEO was going down the road and came up on the drunk. Why?

Cameras can be activated any number of ways, and many start running when the LEO turns on his blue lights, etc.

He may have activated his lights as soon as he saw the lawnmower on the road.
