Who am I, why I was the one that placed you in your mothers womb. I was the One that put that urge in you to take your first breath. I was the One that sent angels by your cradle to watch over you. I was the One that gave you the will to try. to talk and then To walk. I was there when you first got your heart broke. I gave you time to heal. I was there when you were sick and feeling bad, I gave you comfort. I am the one that has never left your side, never have I left you alone. I’m still here, for I am waiting for that Eminent day to take you home. Who am I. AM THAT I AM is this what you meant Kent?
I didn't watch the vid ... But He has two of mine. And knowing that gave me a comfort that my family couldn't understand.
JCG: I meant just what I said, that God is always in control. He's God on the mountain and He's God in the valley. I was listening to one of Dr. Adrian Rogers' sermons earlier this morning and he used a great saying: "Some of you think we (Christians) are nuts, but that's OK because I'm fastened to a good bolt, and His name is Jesus!" Well, it's almost time to go 10-41 (on duty). May everyone have a blessed day.
Hey that reminds me I sang that song at the NH the last time. [Chorus] For the God on the mountain, is still God in the valley When things go wrong He’ll, make them right And the God of the good times, is still God of the bad times And the God of the day is, still God of the night
Child's Prayer - Burl Ives - Happy Birthday, Jesus! Even with all the stores putting out Christmas decorations, it still seems a little early. But, I've always loved any song or recitation that Burl Ives performs. I still watch Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer every year. Child's Prayer: http://www.godtube.com/view_video.php?viewkey=00c072f5447ed37300b1&page=17&viewtype=&category=mr - - - - - - Personal Testimony In listening to the Child's Prayer, I thought of how Jesus reminded us of the child-like faith we should have as adults. This is not some immature faith, but an unquestionable, rock-solid faith and trust that God is our provider and He will sustain us in every facet of our lives. When my daughter was very young she used to love to stand at the top of the stairs and jump out into my arms as I stood several steps below. Never did she question my ability to catch her. Not once did she ever scratch her head and ask, "Now Daddy, are you sure you have the strength to catch me?" She had an unwavering faith that I would protect her from any harm. - - - - - - - There are many examples in scripture about faith, but my favorite is: Hebrews 11 - The Triumphs of Faith 1Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. 2For by it the men of old gained approval. 3By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible. 4By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained the testimony that he was righteous, God testifying about his gifts, and through faith, though he is dead, he still speaks. 5By faith Enoch was taken up so that he would not see death; AND HE WAS NOT FOUND BECAUSE GOD TOOK HIM UP; for he obtained the witness that before his being taken up he was pleasing to God. 6And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. 7By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. 8By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going. 9By faith he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs of the same promise; 10for he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God. 11By faith even Sarah herself received ability to conceive, even beyond the proper time of life, since she considered Him faithful who had promised. 12Therefore there was born even of one man, and him as good as dead at that, as many descendants AS THE STARS OF HEAVEN IN NUMBER, AND INNUMERABLE AS THE SAND WHICH IS BY THE SEASHORE. 13All these died in faith, without receiving the promises, but having seen them and having welcomed them from a distance, and having confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. 14For those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a country of their own. 15And indeed if they had been thinking of that country from which they went out, they would have had opportunity to return. 16But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for He has prepared a city for them. 17By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was offering up his only begotten son; 18it was he to whom it was said, "IN ISAAC YOUR DESCENDANTS SHALL BE CALLED." 19He considered that God is able to raise people even from the dead, from which he also received him back as a type. 20By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, even regarding things to come. 21By faith Jacob, as he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff. 22By faith Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the exodus of the sons of Israel, and gave orders concerning his bones. 23By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king's edict. 24By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, 25choosing rather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, 26considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the reward. 27By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured, as seeing Him who is unseen. 28By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood, so that he who destroyed the firstborn would not touch them. 29By faith they passed through the Red Sea as though they were passing through dry land; and the Egyptians, when they attempted it, were drowned. 30By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encircled for seven days. 31By faith Rahab the harlot did not perish along with those who were disobedient, after she had welcomed the spies in peace. 32And what more shall I say? For time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets, 33who by faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions, 34quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. 35Women received back their dead by resurrection; and others were tortured, not accepting their release, so that they might obtain a better resurrection; 36and others experienced mockings and scourgings, yes, also chains and imprisonment. 37They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tempted, they were put to death with the sword; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated 38(men of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts and mountains and caves and holes in the ground. 39And all these, having gained approval through their faith, did not receive what was promised, 40because God had provided something better for us, so that apart from us they would not be made perfect.
It's called Christmas with a capital "C" A buddy sent this to me and I thought I'd pass it along: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAckfn8yiAQ
I tell you what. I was watching TLC last night at all these medical conditions, etc. and I'm so blessed that my children were born without disabilities. God is very good! I also watched a show on Ferrel kids, it's just amazing the abuse some kids have to go through. Heartbreaking!
We must have been watcing the same thing. Indeed, we are blessed if we have healthy childen, or blessed with our children, period.
Go rest high on that mountain - Vince Gill A terrific song: http://www.godtube.com/view_video.php?viewkey=dab536237b1543bb9fca&page=8&viewtype=&category=mr
That is an awesome song. Always has been one of my favorites. Vince wrote it about his half-brother who died in 1993.
Personal Testimony - a praise I got a call from my Sargeant today to call Mrs. J (not her real initial). Yesterday was the 1 year anniversay of her husband's suicide. I was one of the LEO's who went to the call. I stayed with Mrs. J at her home and offered what comfort I could while the other deputies and investigators processed the scene. Mrs J said she has tried to write to me several times but her emotions were just too great - until now. It has taken this long to be able to talk about the day that turned her life upside down. She just wanted to thank me for taking the time with her. Since then her faith in God has grown stronger, and her relationship with her friends, neighbors, and co-workers has also grown stronger. Mrs. J. still doesn't know why God allowed this to happen, but she is assured through her faith that one day she will find out. I just thank God that He used me in a time when I could provide some measure of consolation in such a critical time. And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28
Glad you could be there for her, Kent. Those anniversaries can be so difficult. We always wonder and question why things happen, and I think that's OK. God gave us free will to think and act, but then whatever we do with that, he is able to use it for good in some way. As Joseph said to his brothers when they came to Egypt during the famine (speaking of their selling him into slavery) "You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good."
