Ok. I have been to the doctor and they say I'm fine. But I keep having dizzy spells. I can be sitting completely still, not doing anything and feel like I'm on a merry go round. No headaches but sometimes I see these little floating white lights or shiny dots swirling around. I have some stress in my life but alot has been relieved when hubby went back to work. I got teenagers, but that just works my nerves. I can get through them. LOLOL I eat normal, sleep normal (for what time my hubby doesn't snore) and my family is normal as far as getting along and all. I just don't want to spend more money for the doctor to tell me I'm fine. I may be, but this is not normal to me. Any suggestions or experiences?

Sounds like Vertigo to me...I used to suffer pretty bad, but hardly ever have it anymore.
    Definition of Vertigo

Vertigo is a type of dizziness felt as a shift in a person's relationship to the normal environment (a feeling that the room is spinning is common) or a sense of movement in space.

Although dizziness and vertigo are often used interchangeably, they are not the same thing. While all vertigo is dizziness, not all dizziness is vertigo.

True vertigo, from the Latin "vertere," to turn, is a distinct, often severe form of dizziness that is a movement hallucination.

    Description of Vertigo

There are four major types of dizziness - vertigo, presyncope, disequilibrium, and lightheadedness.

Most patients with true vertigo have a peripheral vestibular disorder, such as benign positional vertigo. This is usually associated with tinnitus and hearing loss.

Central disorders, such as brain stem or cerebellar lesions, tend to be more chronic but less intense than peripheral disorders and are not associated with hearing loss. Central disorders account for only 15 percent of patients with vertigo.
Vertigo is the illusion that you - or your surroundings - are moving. You may feel that you are spinning, tilting, rocking, or falling through space. You may vomit or have ringing in the ears (tinnitus). Also, your eyes may uncontrollably jerk back and forth (a condition called nystagmus).

Could be inner ear too, you might want to see someone different. Also, low blood pressure can do that to you, speaking from experience lol.............I used to get the "spins" when I would lie down sometimes at night. And hadn't had a drop to drink!

The white light floating things and dizziness are both signs of blood pressure issues. Which it could be when you go to the doctor it's fine, but you have "spells" when not at the doctor so therefore he wouldn't be able to catch it.

Also, when you're tense / stressed do you tend to hold your breath or have shallow breathing? This too can also cause the 2 above symptoms. Been there done that.....it's why I ask

Yes, my Vertigo was caused by inner ear problems, basically throws off your equilibrium, etc. No pain, etc. except for the dizziness. Mine got so bad I'd fall out of the shower or couldn't get out of bed.

Sounds like a second opinion is needed. By all means see another doctor.
And if when you lay down the rooms spins for a few secs and then when you get back the same thing. Sometimes that a balance problem having to do with your enter ear. sometimes they can fix it sometimes they can't. I've had it for 30 yrs. I had an enter ear infection so bad it left scar tissue. that is what causes mine. and those little white stars are just so pretty (not). sometimes my vision goes black. that's fun too.(not)

    Thanks for the responses!

I haven't had any breathing problems......mmmm......blood sugar is ok that I know of.......some of the vertigo stuff is there but not all. My heart sometimes races like I just got done running a marathon and I may have only walked across the room. That doesn't happen often but it does happen.

I agree with someone else about eating.
If I have a gallon of coffee or start the day with Dr Pepper or Mt Dew I get a dizzy spell. I carry bars around just in case.

I'd have my blood sugar checked, if I were you. Just believing it to be OK is not enough.

I'm not a doctor and this is not intended to be a diagnosis. Please see your doctor and, if you don't like what s/he says, keep going to different doctors until you find one that will tell you what you want to hear.

Since you are having heart issues, you may consider going to a cardiologist. What you are describing sounds a little like SVT http://health.msn.com/general/articlepage.aspx?cp-documentid=100074737

I was diagnosed with SVT about 8 years ago. It causes me to feel that my heart skips a beat or two and then it races to catch up. This leaves me out of breath and feeling light headed at times.

I see Dr. Cheely at Raleigh Cardialogy 919-231-6132 and I like him very much. Read the info on the site I listed and see what you think. I hope you find out what it is very soon and I hope it is not derious. If it is SVT, don't worry, they can fix it.

I hate this for you, it's very difficult when you know there's something wrong and no one can find anything. Here's what happened to me, I don't know if it will make you feel better or worse!

Last year, around October I started noticing my heart would skip a beat here and there, nothing too bad, and I know I have a heart murmur, just assumed it was that. I'm a healthy 31 year old woman, not too big, not too small, everything was fine. Then in December I started getting dizzy spells. Maybe once a week, and thought that was odd, but assumed I was just maybe doing too much at that time. Well, about a week later I couldn't ever catch my breath. I literally had to stop in the middle of the grocery aisle for a minute because I was so out of breath. The night of my son's bday (12/22) I was scared to go to sleep it was so bad, I thought I might not ever wake up again. I wasn't doing anymore than normal, but it was getting worse. Within 3 weeks I went to my dr's office and saw 2 different doctors, the ER at Wake Med, the cardiologist twice and the pulmonologist once. No one found anything! At one time at my doctors office they did a breathing treatment, which I had never had done before, and he was shocked by the results. The first time I blew into the tube I didn't do well at all, then they gave me the treatment, then had me blow into the tube again. I did worse after the treatment! He assumed the pulmonologist would find that I had asthma, but everything was in perfect working order. So it all ended up going away after about a month, and it's never come back.

I wish you luck with all this, and hopefully it's nothing too bad. They finally just thought it must be anxiety, but that never made sense to me, as I wasn't stressed at all, actually everything at that time had been going great. So good luck to you, and hope you start feeling better!

    A side note...

I just found this out the other day and thought it was interesting. When you go to get your blood sugar checked for diabetes, you should get it checked later in the day, not first thing in the morning. There was an article about someone who had been sick for a while, and had all kinds of test done, they couldn't find anything wrong. Finally she said a doctor found her blood sugar to be in the 600s, and that is REALLY, REALLY high. When she asked why it wasn't found earlier, they said because she had always been tested in the morning, and it hadn't gone up yet. I thought that was interesting.

The white flashy thing can be a "visual" migraine. You can have no headache @ all and still have the flashy light part. I used to have them once in a while and it would start as a little flashy/distorted dot and spread outward like a ripple on a pond til it went away within a few minutes.

No matter what, I'd go see another doctor.

My blood sugar gets super low sometimes and will cause those symptoms, racing heart too.

Also, right before I get a migraine the "lights" come on in and around my eyes. If I catch it at that point and take an Advil the headache won't be too bad.

Sorry if these are repeats. I didn't read all the responses carefully.
