Oh, Gosh! We were just there last weekend and to my horror, the bridge was swinging from the wind and I was about to die when I landed my foot on it! Also very steep mountain edge to drive on - VERY terrifying! It's so pretty up there, but I'm not going back there again EXCEPT the bottom of the mountain. LOL.

I got out in the middle of that swinging bridge a few years ago and froze. DH had to come get me, I don't know when I have ever been so scared. I can tell you I won't be going back. That was worse to me than standing at the edge of the Grand Canyon. But that was pretty scary too. :shock:Apparently my fear of heights is getting worse as I get older. :?

You guys are so funny:lol::lol::lol: i remember when i was a kid, back before they rebuilt the bridge to make it sturdier, my family was there in the early 70's, it was windy, rainy, and cold, and the only other one brave enough to go across the bridge with me was my Godmother - it was awesome the way it was swinging and you had to hold on so tight and it was so cloudy you could not see your own foot in front of you - that is one great memory:-D Then again, i am a rollercoaster addict too.

Years ago when my son was about 4-5 yrs old we went to Grandfather Mtn with some friends. Now my son is an explorer, constantly moving at that age, so he's walking all over the place, with me chasing him and of course he kept going closer to the edge than I liked, so I was constantly saying his name, ***come here, ***now stay right here, and so on. My friends looks at me and says 'everybody on this mountain's gonna know his name before we leave" we all cracked up! Now everytime I hear a parent repeating their kids name, I think of that.......LOL.

I know you are a good MIL Kaci. I hope to be a great one to my kids spouses when they get married. I gotta tell ya though, my in-laws are like a pack of wolves - always have been. You make one wrong move (in their eyes) and they all jump in for a feast of flesh. I tried for over 20 years to get along and be accepted by my FIL and my MIL. They are both gone now and neither of them ever accepted me and continued to trash me to the end. Now, at least it's only the siblings I have to deal with.
I think that "women over 40" thing applies here. I just finally got tired of taking all the garbage and keeping my mouth shut. And they didn't like it one bit.
To all of you MILs who are great to your in-laws...I applaud you. Keep up the good work.
