It seems like more and more people are on the road. It is so congested trying to get out of the 40/42 area in the morning and just as much of a headache trying to get home in the evening. I commute to RTP with my husband every day. I am just wondering where other people commute.
   LOL! I'm no perfect driver, but I TRY not to cut people off or pull out in front of them because my car is bigger/more expensive, I don't weave in and out, I always use my turn signals, I don't ding other people's cars, I merge when the signs say instead of waiting till the last possible second, you know, common curtesy. If I had to go to RTP every day, I'd be in jail for sure.
I commute from Clayton (right off Amelia Church Rd.) to Raleigh (New Hope Rd, near the new bypass). I can't stand the thought of having to commute using 40 or 440. I'd have to kill someone...and I'd need a bottle of Crown for the trip! I'm fortunate enough to be able to go the backroads, I go out Shotwell (beside BoJangles) to Bethleham Rd, to Grasshopper, to Poole, to Hodge and then get on the new Hwy 264/64 Bypass briefly (about 2 miles) and hop off at New Hope Rd. 30 minutes from door to door, and that includes the drive-thru at Dunkin Donuts for coffee & a bagel!
Are you trying to talk me into taking a trip with you?! Hey you got to my house in once piece, I believe you can drive.
Might have gotten there in one piece, but drove past it at least twice!:lol::lol: My long trek home is when I discovered a couple issues with my van I didn't know I was having!
I live 1.1 miles away from work now that the new Lowes foods has arrived, I have been there for 2 and a half months. the travel time cant be beet and the traffic to and from is nonexistant as of yet. im luvin it! glad to say i am not a part of the raleigh congestion. hope you all drive safely and courtiousley.
Lets see . . . Last Monday - RDU to Boston, MA Last Tuesday - Boston, Ma to Newark, NJ Last Wednesday night and unfortunately Thursday morning - Newark to Greensboro, NC Last Thursday - Greensboro to Huntsville, AL Last Friday - Huntsville to RDU (Still smell like paint after visiting the paint factory all day)
My commute: Most of Johnston County and a bit over the Wake County border. . .average 30K a year. I haven't landed in jail yet, but with these bleeping school buses, stopping and sitting in front of a home for over a minute, and sometimes as long as three minutes (I've timed them) then driving 200 feet and repeating the process down a 5 mile stretch, M-F. . .I might need bail money before the school year ends.
