I am caught up Ken... I was just saying to "ME" it is not similar thinking... I can not say what others are thinking though and neither can you say how others are truly thinking. I do not agree with your 3rd comment... for "my" way of thinking. I feel that an Atheist does not belive in God or anything. So to me you are against Christ because you do not belive in his existence?? So you are AGAINST in the belief that is he God. He feels there is NO spitual beings. I sent a comment/quote from the Sydney Herald that Mr Pullman stated his books are about Killing God... This was not a part of a chain letter. Also he is quoted to not believe in God (or there is a God). Like I said earlier I could care less who sees it, as long as it is not me. You are making something with me more than what it is or more than what I was trying to say. I do not care who sees this. I was stating how I feel about him and the movie..
Are you sure Einstein is not Gnostic? He sounds more like a Gnostic Christian to me, I found myself nodding in agreement with him more than once.
Great link. Especially all the parts that compare Harry Potter to Christian values. But there are no quotes from Mr. Pullman. Just yet another reference to the mysterious Washington Post article. Do you understand what "context" is? Have you ever heard of something being taken out of context? Without the actual article, how do you know Mr. Pullman's words were not taken out of context? Well, without the actual article, you could look at other things he has said and see if his quotes match what it is rumoured he has said. Since I provided a LINK (which I have again, since the original like is a few pages back) wherein he says something different from what is rumoured he has said, I am inclined to believe the words I know are attributed to him. What puzzles me is that, given the same situation, you choose to believe thr rumour.
No Clif, that is not the only reason. That is just part one of the reason but that does not mean I do not support anyone who is an Atheist. I actually pray that they will one day change and accept the Lord as their personal Savoir and if not that is their choice (not mine) that they made. I do not like these types of movies also I only like sappy chick flicks and dramas. I also read a quote that his books are about killing God from Mr Pullman, and to me that part is the thing I do not agree with. I personally do not want to give my money to someone that would joke, or be serious about writing books or having a mindset about Killing God. He is an atheist so he does not belive in a God at all to kill him, so even writing a story about Killing God I am not for.
That has not stopped you from posting that this movie, which you have never seen, is anti-Christian. I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion. What I've been saying is that the people who have been cycling the email, and posting to forums, about this movie and it's author are basing their beliefs on incorrect information. It has nothing to do with being offended at all, unless it offends you to be told that rumours are not to be trusted.
Just in case you missed it... http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A23371-2001Feb18?language=printer The mystery is over. Should print four pages if you want a hard copy.
No, I just do not want to give him my money that is all. Just me! I read the quote where his books are about killing God and that part bothered me a lot and I just do not ever want to promote that way of thinking. Now if the other 20 people in my office want to go see this, then I am ok with that. I personally just do not want to fund that way of thinking And I do not like movies like this too - to be honest! LOL
Sorry, Just answered it... LOL I had too many to answer at the same time!!! LOL You, Clif and Kent!! Oh my I can not belive I had to answer a question to you AND clif and Kent!! LOL That is a first! Like I told them I just gave my thoughts. I can not tell ANY ONE how to think and they can not tell me what I am thinking or how to think either and I am fine with that. I was just givng my 2 cents! LOL And the statement was asking about "hating God" and I had been quiet for the most part of this convo... and just spoke up on the part of him NOT beliving in God... and that I read his books were about Killing God from a quote from this writer.... and killing is not good if that quote was true! LOL
Thanks for being honest. My family likes the whole Fantasy, Narnia, Harry Potter movie theme thing, and nothing that anyone involved in those movies, changes my core values or morals (in other words, I could care less of this guys religious affiliation, if any or if he walks around with a dog leash in women's underwear in his spare time). I go to the movies and read books for 100% entertainment, which is what I believe their intent is solely for.
Nice link. Now, where's the link I have been asking for? The link to the Washington Post article wherein Mr. Pullman says, "that his plan is to undermine the basis of Christian belief" like you said here:
I didn't miss it, I was reading it (unfortunately for you). There is no where in that article where Mr. Pullman made any of the statements you claim he made.
I also want to know from Jester, how you explained the world views of religion to your 5-8 year old??
Page 3 of 4 (on my hardcopy) under "Its No Narnia"... That is from the actual article from the link provided.
I have news for you. Pay attention. In the Bible, God is killed. He is killed intentionally and without remorse. Now, you have read a quote (highly accurate, I might add). Will you now stop reading the Bible? I would hope not. Although my statement is indeed true, I would hope that you don't simply see words and then base your actions on them. I would hope that you actually find out what I'm talking about, and not just by asking others with the same agenda as I have.
