Where can I get one of those sucky hoses that cleans the rock and fish ***** off the bottom of the tank. I need one bad. I have seen the tubes and the rocks go around in it but they dont come out the other end. Anyone? Would the pet shop at 4042 have one (I forgot the name of the place) So if you know the name I can look it up. Next to the pawn shop.
not sure about that one, but the carolina pet supply store on 70 in garner behind merchant's is a great place. jim has been in the biz for years and is an indy surviving in between two petsmarts in a 5 mile radius
Petsmart carries them. Actually, they are pretty common, you can probably find them at any aquarium shop. Just make sure you buy the right size per gallon tank you have. Good luck!
I LOVE CAROLINA PET SUPPLY. Love it. I want a ferret from there soooooo bad. The big snakes scare me a little but they do have an awesome selection of fish! (And their prices are cheaper than Petsmart btw!)
And now, I want him. I never been to Critter Country! Guess where I'm going after work! Well, maybe, depending on how bad traffic is.
I have a 50 gal, (I think) why does size matter? lol, why does size matter? roflmao. No really, can you tell me why.
On Saturday, it was on the right and infront of you when you walked in the door. They have a sort of quad-enclosure that they have bunnies, guinea pigs, chinchilla and the ferret in. The ferret is all by itself, and so beautiful!! I can't tell you male or female, price or anything else, I didn't want to ask.. then I might have wanted "it". LOL
Are you inquiring for a marine tank or a freshwater tank? I have a good bit of experience with marine (saltwater) tanks. The siphon hose I think you're looking for has a larger diameter section connected to a smaller hose that you direct into a bucket. This is done at the same time you schedule a water change. The siphoning action pulls the gravel up into the larger tube and sucks out the garbage that's in your gravel along with a couple gallons of water that you plan to replace with fresh. It'll make you water a bit cloudy but it'll settle down. A bit of a pain in the neck for freshwater tanks and definitely NOT the way to go with a marine tank.
Go to Isaac's Aquatica to get it. May not be the most convenient, but the trip inside is great to see all of Neal's aquariums. Best Salt Water expert around. He can also tell you what you are doing wrong, because you should never really need one of those suction cleaners from my experience. You may be overfeeding or you may be OK. Some junk the substrate is essential, so don't get rid of all of it.
How does it suck it up and the rocks not clog the siphon? freshwater. We want a salt one but my pond sprung a leak and we had to break out the big tank for them. Or let them dry up and die. I just didnt have it in me. We have 5 fish that are maybe 4 inches, 5 or 6 if you measure the fin, and about 20 damn babies. ughhhh...I dont know what to do with these things... Get the pond redone I guess but it is to expensive right now. I just see a lot (and I mean a lot) of fish sh8t on the bottom and it is time to change the water. With that many fish it is almost every week. One of the fish does take food from my fingers, its kinda cool.
There are 2 small snails but the algae, I cant keep up and neither can the little snails. It accumulates in a week. Oh gosh, HELP. I dont want to work this hard on it...
You just have to watch the rocks inside the large siphon tube. You hold the end of the tube near the bottom and the siphon pulls the gravel up. As you pull the tube away from the bottom the gravel will fall out. Just get started and you'll get the hang of it. You'll feel the suction try to pull the tube down onto the bottom but just hold it up enough to suck the gravel up into it. As you take the tube further away the suction isn't great enough to hold the gravel and it falls out. Like I said though; a bit of a pain but perhaps an evil necessity for you right now.
Are these gold fish or koi? They really are dirty fish (no offense). They'll just keep you busy if that's what they are.
