    Hahahaha!
When has size not mattered? ;)

Well, to explain it in simple terms, you dont want a siphon for a 20 gal tank. The main piece would not be big enough and would only siphon small sections. Therefore, get a larger one and you wont spend half the day away trying to clean out your tank. :)

The rocks wont fit. Once it gets going, you will see for yourself. :)

So you have a 50 gallon tank with goldfish and a nasty algae problem...

    Here are some tips!

If you have an aquarium light, shut it off. Its helping the algae grow.

Two small snails for a 50 gallon aquarium? Yikes. You need an algae eater (a plecostamous). Rule of thumb for a fish tank for one inch per gallon. Plecostamous grow up to 24 inches (no, I'm not kidding) so I would buy no more than two. They are hearty eaters so the algae problem will go away. :) Snails are great, but they do multiply. And then those mulitply and so forth.

Get your water tested. Petsmart actually does SIX water tests for FREE. Bring in a cup of you water to the fish department and tell them you want your water tested. They will tell if your PH balances are off, if you have too much chlorine, etc. They will suggest some drops to put in your water and it should clear up within a few days. :)

Yes, cleaning out the gravel will help alot too. They also sell algae scrapers (they are cheap) to clean the algae off of the sides.

I also recommend live plants. They help neutralize the water and balance out the levels.

    Good luck!!!

I got one at pet smart. Man, that thing is the *****. No pun intended:lol:. My water is clear as a bell. Beautiful fish!! I have 2 huge plants in the tank.

You wouldnt believe the amount of crap that went through the siphon. WOW. Who knew?

Cleaned the sides with a toilet brush looking thing I got at pet smart.

    Maybe I will post a pic:mrgreen:
