We usually get our Xmas trees from Pop & Son in Garner and cut our own. But they are so expensive, was wondering where to get a good inexpensive tree? I heard on QDR this morning that you can buy them at the Farmers Market. Has anyone done this, and how much are they? Last year it seems like our tree was $75! We'd really like to keep it under $40 this year if possible. Would love to hear where everyone else gets theirs...Thanks!
I just got back from Foodlion and they just dropped off fresh trees, for $29.96, which is OUTSTANDING price. we get our from Lowe's Home Improvement, 7-8 ft. trees run about $45-$50...6-7 ft. is more in the $40 range. They trim the bottom, net her up AND load it for you (and tie down if necessary). :mrgreen:
Food Lion on 70 in Clayton does have some pretty trees for the price. I was disappointed in Lowes' apparent decision to omit "Christmas" from their live tree sales this year. How PC is that when a modern traditional symbol of Christmas can't even bear the word, "Christmas" for fear of either reprisal? And yes, I do understand where the Christmas tree originated, however it has been widely adopted and recognized as a symbol of Christmas exclusively. For the past couple of years, we've just used an artifical fiber-optic Christmas tree. However, I would be interested in knowing if Lowes does refer to them as "family trees" as has been suggested.
I imagine a lot of folks emailed them about that information for it to have made it on Snopes. I appreciate you reposting that. That renews my appreciation for them to even respond to a customer's inquiry. Many larger companies wouldn't even do that. However, I do believe that on their website, they make no mention of "Christmas" trees unless they have recently revised it. The last time I checked, they simply stated "tree". They still use Christmas sparingly on their website, which is understandable. I'm not against a business using "Happy Holidays" to appeal to a broader customer base, however I do not like to see a business omit Christmas where it is appropriate. If they stick by what they're saying, I applaud them for it. Edit: I just checked and they are indeed using "Christmas" in their merchandising where it is appropriate. Good for them.
we always have gotten ours at the farmers market. i like the big full ones so we spend about $80-100 for one. it just kinda depends on which vendor you stop at.
Food Lion in Cleveland area is selling for $29.95. I saw it just today. The trees look pretty good and I'm sure the stock won't last long. Better grab it soon.
I was on Amelia Church Rd today, and saw there's a small place that sells trees there, anyone ever get one from them? If so, how are their prices? We still haven't bought our tree yet, thinking we'll do it this weekend...
The 2 stands across from Cleveland Elem school have their trees out. Don't know their prices, but they look nice. We've used a pre-lit tree for the past several yrs. :mrgreen:
The only place on Amelia Church Rd. I can think of is right next to the cemetery at the Amelia Church. They were setting up last week for the arrival of their CHRISTMAS trees. Over the past few years, when we've had a real tree, we've bought from them. Always had a very nice tree, a little more expensive than Lowes or Food Lion I'm sure, but I don't have any complaints about getting mine from them.

I don't mind, as long as people know the history and aren't doing it out of laziness. If Christ isn't their thing, that's fine too. I'm not offended by Happy Holidays, as long as it's a culture thing and not a money thing, like Walmart. As for me and mine, we say Merry Christmas. I've been using a fake tree for the last few years but going real this year. I like lowes myself I called yesterday and these are the prices 6-7 feet $29.97, 8-9 $45.00 9and up $60.00. I like them because like previous stated they do put a fresh cut on them and net and load them. And to me having that fresh cut is very important it just makes the life longer planning to go this weekend and get one myself.
