Long story, but a friend was keeping our cat for us because he kept finding ways to kill my squirrels.... so... he was going to stay with her for two weeks until I got the last of my squirrels raised and released. He didnt like being locked in just one room, and I thought it was better for him. Well apparently we didnt ask him what he thought about that situation and he got out of her house. (we visited him regularly and she only lives 10 minutes from us!) So if anyone near old fairground and raleigh road see a very sweet neutered long/med hair black gray tabbish kitty please let us know. (he looks like a main coon) My kids and I are very very upset. (and I feel guilty for letting kitty go on vacation). He has a chip but no collar. I have called all the local vets and the shelter.... I need to make some signs, but I keep hoping he will show back up. I am afraid he is trying to find his way home. Please keep your eyes out if you live/travel that way, I am so scared for him thinking he is living 'on the streets'. Thanks!
I just feel so guilty, I keep crying when I call the vets, I am sure they think I am an idiot. My 11 year old did not want the cat to go in the first place, and now he keeps giving me the 'see I knew it was a bad idea' look. I just hope he is ok. He is a super sweet, lovable cat, I am afraid someone just found him and decided to keep him. I just wish I knew he was safe, I had nightmares all night about him being at a shelter and they doing the unthinkable. I must have asked the guy at the shelter 20 times if they scan there. Anyone know if they really do scan for microchips?
I'll be over there tomorrow, I know it's not much help today, but I'll be on the lookout! Hopefully your baby will come home or someone will find him today.
Don't worry so much LJK, cats are super resilient. One of my pampered, spoiled, completely indoor cats spent the night outside, and was waiting on me to open the door in the AM. I didn't even realize she had snuck out. Now I have to do the "cat check" every night to make sure neither of the Houdinis have done a disappearing act. My neighbors probably think I'm nuts because there have been several times I've been out hollering for my cat, and she was in the house the whole time. I'm paranoid now.
Thanks, I just keep thinking that if it happened at home, he would come back, but now he has no where to go. He thinks we 'dumped' him.
No he doesn't!!! He's just out looking for you. He may be a little turned around, or maybe he's hiding in the bushes right outside their door. Maine Coons are super intelligent. I still say he'll probably show up outside their or your door by morning.
I have to agree... Maine Coons are super intelligent, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that he turns up!! We had a Maine Coon cat that my mom kept from a feral cats litter. Then about 12 years later "he" decided he'd rather live with a friend of hers. She had gone on an extended trip, and left him in the friends care and they became great buddies. So, my mom let the friend have him due to all her traveling. He's been through a few rough times, had to have a back leg amputated at 14 due to bone cancer, and at 19 years old, he still kickin'... LOL
Thanks everyone- no signs yet.... I keep driving around her neigborhood calling him out the car window!!! I will go back this afternoon. Harley ask them to rescan any medium/long hair cats for me!!
Please be sure to put up signs ljk. Every animal we find we post a pic at Don Lee's. Someone almost always calls.
Do not laugh, but his name is squishy. He responds well to "here kitty, kitty kitty!" (roll the kitty kitty part) I am not sure how to attach a picture. this picture looks almost identical to him; http://www.rescuinganimalsinneed.org/images/noodle2.jpg
Squishy! I think Squishy is a perfect name for that scrumptious kitty. I have one that looks very much like him, and her fur is so soft and....squishy! I saw the ad online and just as a little suggestion, you may want to edit it and add some more details about him. Don't know if you remember, but Tassy had a cat go missing earlier this year, and then came back after 10 days. Don't give up. (Tassy, I'm not a stalker, I just remember because my cat went missing right after yours did and it gave me hope.)
