Hey if any of you have a cotton field or pass by one, grab a couple of pieces for me. Ask first so you don't get shot. My MIL is an elementary teacher in PA and when she comes down she always brings them things from the "South" that they don't get to see in their little bitty small town up north. We passed one on Thanksgiving day, but we were going to stop on the way back to drop her and my FIL off in Clayton, but we came to our house instead. She also wants me to get her a tobacco leaf. I told her I send up a ciggarette, but that didn't fly. I'd greatly appreciate it and so would my MIL and her kids. Thank you!
What? No cotton fields left in western Wake? Only houses and commercial property? Sad! Unfortunately Johnston County is headed in the same direction. I don't know of any farmer that will shoot you for taking a few bowls of cotton. Most believe anyone stopping and taking some samples are probably Yankees that have never seen a cotton plant. Now going on property and picking up pecans is a different story. This may get you some buckshot in your butt. Shelled whole pecan halves are now $8.00+ a pound. We went down to B&B in Turkey, N.C. on Thursday and bought a case (24 pounds) for our family and friends and got them for $7.00 a pound.
Mom & Dad's pecan tree - the best pecan pie EVER! I haven't seen a cotton field 'round these parts yet. Shocking huh? :?
Cotton and tobacco I will see what I can do for you Harley girlie!! You have moved into the 'big city' and have not cotton or bacca huh? (except for the cigs!) I think most of the fields around our house were picked a few weeks ago. I will see what I can do! As far as the tobacco I am not sure I could find any at this time, but I will try for you!! Merry Christmas!
Yeah, thank you Breezy, I'll come get if from you. It will be nice seeing you again, it's only been what 19 years? Cleo, I know right? :?
