I purchased a piece of furniture from someone. When I got it home I realized it smells like their house ... like pet/cat urine <YUCK!> I've wiped it down and have it outside airing out. Will that smell go away or should I just load it for a trip to Goodwill? I hate to loose the $ but there is no way I'm bringing the smell into my house.

Petsmart sells that neutralizer for that sort of thing. So does Lowes.

Is that a temporary fix or will a treatment take care of the smell permanently?

Is it wood, upholstered, or what?

you will never get rid of cat urine.

I am sure you will get a gazillion suggestions from people on here, but it won't work. nothing works. people have had to have sub-flooring replaced to get rid of cat pi$$. Take her to Goodwill. Save yourself the trouble (and money).

If upholstered put a couple caps of this stuff in your steamer and steam clean it with cleaning solution.

A product from Sam's will get rid of it permantly. It's called "Odoban". Specifically for that, also used in nursing homes, etc. for urine smells. There are some doubters, but it's worth a shot if you really like the chair. Otherwise, why take it to Goodwil, they will just have to throw it away there.

except for that....NAPALM is the only thing that will work. I forgot about the 'N' word....LOL....nothing short of that will work!

Thanks for the reminder Ken!

We had good luck with it for pet accidents. I guess to each his own.

It's wood. The smell really started to come out while I was wiping it down. I feel like I need to take a shower now it just so disgusting.

Here's my 2 cents. If it's in the wood you may be able to saturate it enough with an odor neutralizer. If it's in the cushions you'll need to replace the guts and wash the cover. If it's in the non-removable cloth covering and in any padding underneath that then you're not likely to ever get rid of it entirely. Like I said, though; Just my somewhat educated opinion.;)
