I am all for conservation. I don't water grass, we use low use shower heads and faucets. Make sure there are no leaks and what do I see? A restaurant in Garner has a faucet in the ladies room that could not be cut off. I told the hostess and she informed that they knew of the problem. Why not cut the water off to that sink???? Self flushing commodes at other businesses that apparently can't tell when someone is there or not. Why aren't they on conservation??? People drilling wells so that they can water expensive grass. Don't they realize there is only so much ground water. Just because you have the money to drill a well does not make it right to use water when everyone else has been asked to conserve. Now I feel better!
There were two sinks in the ladies room at this restaurant. There is another thought......instead using water to wash hands...why not use a hand sanitizer. I noticed this was being used at the rest areas in one of our national parks. They said it saved on water and towels.
I'm all for saving water, but I want restaurant employees to wash their hands with soap and rinse in warm, running water. Let's wash those germs down the drain - the dead and the not-dead ones! Hand sanitizer might kill 95% of the germs, but I don't want that other 5% - probably the toughest, most resistant to antibiotics - on my food! That restaurant needs to hire a plumber and get the faucet fixed, is all.
Heading to work this morning I noticed just exactly how many cars were clean. Granted they are not all from here but seems like since the entire state is in a drought there should be more cars that are dirty.
A little dirt on the car or truck won't hurt anything short-term, but better keep those wheels washed. That brake dust will ruin the finish, especially if their are aluminum polished or chrome. Even with painted wheels, brake dust is very hard to clean once it's etched into the surface.
So true about the brake dust but if I am going to water anything it will be some heirloom plants, not the grass or my vehicle.
We have one of those in our neighborhood. He washes them with a power washer in his garage. Like we all can't see the sudsy water flowing out to the street. He and his wife are those that think the rules don't apply to them.
