When I was young, we raised Hogs and always cooked a lot of pork. One day I had been out in the woods playing all day and came dragging home around 7:00 for dinner...well my Mom told me she had fried a bunch of pork meat for dinner and saved me some. I ate every bit of it and it's was yummy...well then she told me it was chitlins...I almost threw up! They were good, but I never ate them again.

    I do love Kimchi though....YUM!

DH loves Kimchi too! (infact, just watched the episode of MASH a few nights ago, where Frank dug up the Kimchi pot that he was sure was a bomb being buried).

In all honesty....Wouldn't someone have to be drunk to discover how to make Kimchi and pickled herring?

Yep, my bf growing up was Korean. Sun Ju's Mom couldn't even speak but a few words of English. OMG, that woman was the best cook ever! She only made traditional Korean meals, and they were all the bomb! Yes, she berried her kimchi in the yard, and dug it up when it was fermented enough!

I'd be happy to pay for your first. The new place at what used to be the Kro's nest, has an OB inside. Never eaten there, so I can't say. I can swear by Sunny Side Too, downtown Garner, good eats...nothing like some half shelled, some steamed, washed down with a cold brew...
    Your call..........

My grandma, who we call meme (she is French). She eats raw meat. Hamburger, pork, and especially steak. Loves raw liver. It is her favorite. I mean RAW. We don't know why she does it. When people are around or we all eat together, she eats it cooked.

So many times I have seen her plop a piece of raw liver in her mouth, chew it, and go for another one.

She told me a story about when her mother (who died when my meme was 2). Her uncle who raised her told her that her mother had breast cancer and when she was in pain they would lay a piece of raw meat on her chest and it would give her relief from the pain. After they took the meat off about 2 hours later, the meat would be white where the cancer fed off of it.

MEME is 94, so this was back in the day. She was prescribed raw liver when she was a kid because she had an iron deficiency. I guess she just got the taste for it.

    ugh...

I think maybe she is on to something though. She is 94, never ever been sick, takes absolutely no medications, and her blood pressure is better that a 30 year olds.

I think she has built a immune system of steel. She lives by herself and does everything you and I do.

    God bless her.

Here is a pic of my meme.
