Go figure, during the holidays. Anyhooo... need recommendations on septic system people and about how much we'll be out. We have 9 people living in this house. The septic system is as old as the house...14 or 15 years. Can't remember off hand exact age of the house. I don't know what if any work the previous owners had done to it. As of tonight, no toilets will flush. Bubbling up. Dont' know if we have a pump failure or if the tank itself failed. System will need to be pumped out first and our alarm checked. We actually think Time Warner cut some of the lines for the alarm system. Need someone who knows the lowpressure systems. When it rains it pours!!! This is priority. In the back of our minds, we knew this may happen. WE are really, really hoping we just need to pump it and not need a new one. I'm sure it was never designed to hold 9 people load. And forgive me if I don't know all the lingo on here. Need some reliable people who will NOT rip us off. We've had a really rough year financially and just don't need to be taken advantage of right now. So, a reliable, reasonable and knowledgeable person on septic systems, send them my way!!! Need names and #'s please.

    Take care,

Do a search of the site, I know they have been talked about in the past. Good luck, but with 9 people, you have probably overloaded it.

Thanks KDC. I did do a search and the thread I found had just one recommendation of Hardee septic service. Anyone have any other recommendations? Want to call more than one. Thanks.

I'm almost positive these are the people we used.

Ask them if the owner inadvertently caught a customers cheating husband by what had been flushed down the toilet. Lets just say he didn't use the item with wifey and it wasn't biodegradeable.

If it was them.... they were very reasonable and did a great job.

Hardee's is the absolute best. We have used his services for years and have found an honest reputable person.

Too funny! We'll call one of the two places. Got great recommendations for both. And the saga continues....

Could have been worse, could have happened when we have 28 people here for Christmas!

thanks for all the recommendations on and off the boards. Have a great week.

So, the guy was pumping out our tank. I ask the feller, "Whats the strangest thing you've ever found in a tank?" He says, "One time I was cleaning out this tank and the owner (wife) was standing there with me. She looks down and sees something floating on the water. She wanted me to take it out, so I did. As fate would have it, what I pulled out was a condom. The home they had was new and the husband had spending alot of time at home. From there the woman storms into the house and pretty much went after the husband. I saw her a few months later and asked her what happened. Basically, she was almost through with the divorce."

No, the words aren't verbatum, but the story is true.

To go ahead and give you heart failure. It cost in the upwards of 4 grand for us to put in our new system for the house we just built.

Don't know the exact number... hubby signed that check.

Good luck and be sure to update us on the rubber flusher.

On this same line of thought --- never FLUSH anything but TP and something that came outta your body.
    (I know, ewewew gross.)

All the other stuff that you flushed when you lived in TOWN - will kill your septic tank. It will cost you $$$$. And nothing is worse than Flushing in Fear.

Never flush female monthly items, condoms or even hair or string. My college roomate used the pooper as a trash can & would flush everything - major plunger time... always.

Step One is to Pump. Then check the lines & test at pump and all.

Well, STallings doesn't take credit cards. Hardee can't come till Monday. Kitchen is a health hazzard at this point--LOL, can't do laundry, and can't shower...yuck!!! So, we are still calling around. Like Hardees though. If we can't find anyone to do it today, we will definitely have them here Monday. Just didn't expect allt his around Christmas time. I know this sounds bad but do you think we can get a room at a hotel and just take showers there? Trying to find a solution for this problem of no bathroom usage, no laundry usage, and no dishwashing for an entire weekend. May not sound like much but w/ 9 people, it's a ton. Suggestions if no one can get here till Monday? BTW, it's my 10 year anniversary today.

Have a great weekend and if you see a family at the Christmas Parade w/ rather ratty hair that doesn't look washed, it's probably us--LOL! I told the kids to pretend we are camping. "But mom, at least when we camp we can take a shower." Point given. Maybe we should hop on over to the campgrounds for the weekend. Supposed to warm up. Might be nice to camp. Who knows. Ahh, the curve balls life throws us.

Bill Hardee is the best you will ever find and he's very reasonable. Did you explain to him how many kids you have and their special needs? Maybe he would be willing to come out tomorrow if he knew the circumstances?

    Good luck and Happy Anniversary!

Wink Davis of Davis' Septic Service, Pine Level has done mine and 3 of my neighbors. We thought he was very reasonable and seemed very honest. 919-965-3013

Thanks everyone! Hey, problem resolved!!! I loved the Hardee company but they were just too booked. We ended up going w/ Eastside Septic and he did a great job. Reasonable and even found a problem that should have been discovered awhile ago! Pump works--wahoo!!! They did discover that if we go to sell the house, then it will NOT pass inspection. Urghh. The repair for that would be $400. Not bad but not good as it was just never designed right. We will cross that bridge when we sell the house. But it will have to be fixed.

All in all, it ended okay. This guy was really nice and got right to work. Impressed w/ them and they were honest w/ everything. That's what counts. Got to go. Thanks for all the recommendations and all the offers. Laura, we will get the kiddos together SOON.

Have a great weekend folks. We can take a shower, wahoo!

    Take care,
