So we are going to remove our daughter from her hip hop classes because somehow they have turned into ballet.

Does anyone know of any place that offers hip hop classes in the Clayton area? We are considering dance art, but they are kind of far from us.

    Any other suggestions?

How dare they take that loud noisy annoying stuff and turn it into something actually akin to art.

    Is nothing sacred anymore?

I mean, where are the priorities? What good is being able to move with grace and poise, when learning the fundamentals to pole dancing is where the real world is?

Well that's kind of narrow minded Clif. Just because it is not your choice of music/dance art doesn't mean it's a bad thing. SOME hip hop is very entertaining to watch. Last I remembered pole dancing was WAY different... and there are classes on that too!

Funny how the person I was actually addressing saw the humour...

Maybe if you would stop believing I'm all that uptight, you'd be able to see that most of my posts are humourous.

You know, at the Clayton Christmas Parade, the last act before Santa was the Helping Hands Mission. While they may be entertaining, I do not think they were appropriate for the Christmas parade. I also though that, perhaps, they would be telling the little girls in the back, "Be good, work hard, and one day you just might be able to wear a bikini and hold the sign in the Christmas parade."

The Helping Hands Mission has toned it way down over the past few years.

My suggestion on hip hop dancing..watch more MTV

I saw them!!! My daughter saw them first from a distance. She said something about them not wearing any clothes and covered her face. I saw them and told her they had on some skimpy outfits. I agree, I think it was a little inappropriate. Excellent charity and the kids were amazing but they could have used a bit more clothing.

Hey ferrick. We take my stepson who's ten years old to Step Ahead. It's behind the Food Lion at 40/42. He takes clogging, hiphop, and ballet and his sister, who is 14, takes bellet. They both really love it there. I highly recommend them.

Very much so. Their show was so bad 2 years ago that last year, and this year, they were moved to the back of the line, just ahead of Santa....which is a great way to say..look kids! Its Santa! Ugh wait...dont look yet.

Wow...maybe someone should enforce a dress code or something...yeah, it was quite uncomfortable when they appeared. That girl had to have been younger than 18 years old! The band did an amazing job though, just wish they could have been more noticed for their talent then well..what they were wearing (or not wearing!)

Hip hop / rap is to music what etch-a-sketch is to art!
