I was in CVS on 210 about a month ago and the clerk told me they were about to open a minute clinic there. However, I don't think it would help if you had an injury where you needed to stop bleeding - more like a cold/flu/conjunctivitis etc type of deal.
I noticed the CVS on Timber in Garner put up signs this week advertising Minute Clinic. There is more info. about this resource and what they treat at http://www.minuteclinic.com/en/USA/Treatment-and-Cost.aspx CVS at 42 and McGees are listed. They are open late and have some good weekend hours Clinic Hours: Mon - Fri 8am to 8 pm Sat - Sun 10am to 4pm
Jen, i know where you are coming from - that place is a joke. Last year when DH cut his finger down to the bone we went up there and after waiting 2 hours, the doctor finally saw him and almost passed out at the blood when she took the Electrical tape off the finger (you can relate i am sure). Meanwhile my DH is bleeding profusely and i was the only one that noticed he was going into shock:shock: After all that time and after having the nurse or whatever assure at the beginning of the visit that it could be taken care of there, we were sent to Wake Med which is not even associated with them - another surprise since it took 6 months to settle the billing between the two. Like others have said, the one behind Just Tires is great - that is where i went when i broke my foot and ankle and they were awesome. Hope little one is doing better now and will have to talk to ya about the CVS thing - ran by there tonight and saw it and wasn't really sure what it was.
Hi, While I agree with your letter and that you are right to send it, the only possible violation I really see is the HIPPA thing. And then again it might be legal to post names since I've seen names posted before on sign up sheets. It is possible that the doctor had a committment that night and needed to leave by a certain time but he should still have had a nurse do a triage of sorts and then recommend a place for you to go to. They should have handled this with a lot more sensitivity,
Jentile, you're right....he may have had something else going on... My complaint is that the facility was open until 8, regardless, and we were refused service 1 hr and 45 minutes before they closed. If the doctor needed to leave early, they should have closed early, or brought in a PA or something to take his place.
About that Wake Urgent Care next to Just Tires: Do they just have one doc? I went there a couple of years ago and saw this lady do. I don't remember her name. However, I wouldn't let her take care of a cat! She was awful. I had rolled my ankle and it was swollen really bad and my foot was black and blue. They did a lousy job on the xrays and only ended up getting one clear on of the outside of my ankle, nothing for the top of my foot or the inside of my ankle. She said it was just a sprain. My foot still hurts off and on to this day, and I am fairly certain I had at least some hairline fractures in the bones of the top of my foot and it didn't heal right. One day I'm going to have my regular doc xray it and see what he sees. As far as price, I did have to pay the urgent care co-pay, and the air splint they put on my ankle was not covered by my insurance and they charged me $69 for it. I saw it at Walgreens later for around $15! Anyway, if they have a new doc I might give it a try, but if that lady's still there, forget it. Do they have a website?
Last time we were there, about a yr ago,, there was a nice young man. We were pleased with our treatment.
Jennifer, a news station (can't remember which one) ran a story regarding the Doctor shortages in the Triangle. Basically, it said the population has grown so much that Doctor's are turning away their patients and very few are able to accommodate same day appointments. I would have been just as frustrated as you. However, I think if the demand for Docs is as bad as the news story suggested, business is good. And just like any other business, if the owner/doctor decides to close, go home early, turn away patients, etc. they have that right. (And of course, you have the right to not return and take your money elsewhere). I'm glad things worked out for you at CVS/Minute Clinic. Thanks for educating me on an alternative that I didn't realize was available.
