Just an FYI for anyone that's interested. Coal Tar Shampoo, no particular brand. It's been years since using it and I almost forgot just how great a job it does on the dogs skin/coat. The last time I used it was about 20 years ago when I owned a Golden that had trouble every summer with hot spots, this worked wonders on her. Now I have a little cocker that has developed dry skin this summer and once again this shampoo has helped to restore/condition her skin/coat, this has a very basic makeup so no harsh smelling chemicals or perfumie (no sure this is a word) smells. I will keep everyone updated as mentioned before about the new nonsteroid allergy medicine that she'll take starting in March. Just wanted to share this tidbit.
Capsules and liquids mainly. We have tried them both and prefer the capsules. So good for their skin and their coats feel like velvet. Velvet, I tell ya!
Can you buy them at the CVS, Target etc. pharmacy? If so, one capsule per dog, considering I have 2 dogs, one weighing 25lbs. and the other at 50lbs. Would one capsule each day do it for them?
There is a dosage chart for giving them human grade fish oil however I do not have it handy. We use the 3V Caps distributed by DVM. They come in three sizes according to weight/dosage.
