4042.com Forums Update FYI

As you likely are aware at this point, we "went live" with the new forums layout last night. It is now using a dynamic layout, meaning it will automatically expand left and right to fill the screen based on the size monitor you are viewing on.

Some additional items have also been added, such as the latest Classifieds and Community Calendar postings.

Please bear with us as we monitor the changes to the forums under "live" conditions. As with any new software setup, there can be glitches that pop up and we appreciate your patience during this time.

One complaint. The lack of a "Top" link at the bottom of the page.

When I am done scrolling to the bottom, and have nothing to add, I used to be able to click "Top", which would reset the page back to the top and allow me to click the forum link (in this case "Discussion Group") to jump back to the forum list.

I'm sure there is another way to do this without having to scroll all the way back to the top, but it's a different process than I am used to.

Aside from that, though, the new layout looks nice.

 

Clif, right below the last post is a place for "Forum Jump" and it's default highlighted to the forum you're on. All you have to do it hit "Go".

Yeah. It was there before as well. It works, just a different process than I am used to. I'm not real big on changing processes.

I wasn't arguing, I was pointing it out, in case perhaps you missed it, since it was so subtle and you stated that you were looking at the text.

 

If someones color blind they may miss it!

 

Just wanted to throw some props to the admins. The new look and feel is cool. Easy on the eyes.

I work with software design and its tough when you work hard on a project and you know that not everyone will love it as much as you do.

Ah, a trip down memory lane.

I'm 11 years old. Dwight Eisenhower is president. I'm hoping for a new pair of skates for Christmas. The first color TV program is broadcast on this date, but we won't have a TV in our house for probably 5 more years.

Just having a little fun. The new look is great and if a glitch in the date on that "this day in history" feature is the worst thing that happens, I don't think we have anything to complain about. Good job, Webbie! :-D

 

I was away for the weekend and I come back to this....Kinda weird. I guess I will have to get use to it.

 

Good catch! There were two entries in the database for Spielberg. The 1947 entry was incorrect and has been removed.

 

I see it's now showing the current year, too.
