I don't know Clif. I can think of a lot of books that are allowed in HS that *could* get an R rating if made into a movie. What about books about Vietnam and WWII? The violence alone would be enough for R depending on how far the director took it. I don't think measuring a books appropriatness based on its potential movie rating is a good measuring stick.

I'm sure if I were the lady in the picture I would find that a hoot. Too bad I don't know who she is. Maybe "I farted" does though.

I was hoping Clif and I could get back to the discussion, but since it is almost 2:30 I guess Duck Tales must be on the Cartoon Network and he is otherwise preoccupied. ;)

Angeleyes....thank you for the sweet PM you sent me. I hope you are doing better now.

    Apology accepted! :-D

    So, let's recap.

You agree that some book are inappropriate for children.

You don't know if a book is inappropriate, nor how to decide when a book is inappropriate or even what would be a good "measuring stick" to tell if its inappropriate.

You complain when someone removes a book which contains "sexual scenes, profanity, and drug use" from the children's venue.

Is that pretty much what you've said, in a nut shell?

Please feel free to correct any point where I misunderstood.

And so much for believing that you actually wanted to discuss this rationally.

I figured it was just too good.
