The N&O also claims that they are non-partisan. Go figure.

So, I will ask you direct. Please answer yes or no. Is making "Kama Sutra" available to elementary schoolers acceptable?

One would believe the community at large. I doubt you have the church lady sitting in the library banning "The Giving Tree" because it promotes communism.

Again with this "Constitutional". Yes there is freedom of speech (specifically there is the freedom to complain about the government, but there is nothing about the freedom to hand out Playboy to kindergardners), but with the freedom also comes responsibility. Just as you cannot yell "Fire!" in a crowded theatre, you cannot distribute pornography to minors. There are lines to be drawn.

The schools server block inappropriate content. Thus I can't see the pic.

oh well. Off to start the bus.

Again with making fun of fake avatars. Pretty low brow. Where is "I farted" anyway?

    Bye!!!!!

Ooops I did just fart. Kinda Smells Like Clayton in spring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was trying to make a point about that. As a community how do we decide what is age appropriate or not? I think we discussed this a while back when we talked about the ratings of the movies Passion of the Christ and Fahrenheit 911. Some children were allowed to view Passion of the Christ even though it was rated R but were allowed to see Fahrenheit 911 due to it being rated R at some theaters. It becomes real tough to decide! I found Passion of the Christ to be too violent but Fahrenheit 911 funny (don't go the Liberal/Conservative way, please).

I just have a hard time myself with what my own child can or cannot see and do, good lord I would hate to make the decision for a whole group.

we go about it by electing representatives with similar views to speak for us in the arena of government. by voting for someone in particular, you are taking part in making the decision.

just goes to show how important voting is and how important every individual vote is. you have to really think about how someone would react under certain circumstances, like community standards on appropriate materials for local school libraries

Hey, that's the article we are discussing, right?

No! They are not mature enough to understand love making or the different types that the book goes into. I believe that it should be based on maturity and some common sense. Gotta go find my copy.

    Who in the community?

Yes, again with the Constitution and what is wrong with making sure we are adhering to it? As I stated above, I believe it should be based on maturity. I thought about the pornographic magazines and all when typing but who decides? In my house I decide. We need standards but I think they should be based on maturity of the child.
