First in, first out would seem to be the logical way to pay. But, as somebody pointed out earlier in this thread, Credit Unions work for you; banks are there to make money for their investors.

The state allows them to do it.

Oh, that's wonderful! And we all just fell off the turnip truck.

Thanks for posting this article. Maybe we should take an informal poll, and see if 4042'ers prefer it that way.

It seems to me that if you do not have sufficient funds in your account just about every bank will charge you. Lack of accounting ability is not a reason to dislike a bank.

Were you not boasting about how much more you make then most everyone else not too long ago?

SECU & IBM Credit Union (Coastal)

We love a Credit Union but still do a bit w/ Four Oaks Bank. Grandparents were from F.O. and loved the home town bank.

You know, I really do hate ignorant idiots who refuse to read a thread and then pretend they know what they are talking about.

Take you, for a prime example. Had you actually read my post (yes, I'll bet you probably needed a dictionary to get past the big words like "pending"), you would see that the problem that I was complaining about wasn't that they were charging for an overdraft. Heck, the only person more stupid than one who doesn't think that an overdraft should be fined is one who doesn't read the thread. No, my problem isn't that,. it's the fact that they re-arranged the debits so that they could charge the most in overdraft fees.

But why let facts and honesty get in the way of being able to get in a little jab, right?

    Idiot!

I don't have a bottomless pit for a checking account, so I can't imagine doing debits. I charge everything and pay the balance at the end of the month. All banks are the same to me. If you forget to dot an "i" or cross a "t" they're all waiting to pounce and slap the crap out of you.

The only way to be happy with a bank is to never ...ever ...make a mistake.

Well well. It appears that Clif returned to his nowhere job making more money than most on this board in a bad mood today. Too bad.

I did read the entire post, but I figured that if you were dumb enough to overdraft your account you wern't smart enough to figure out your bank statement.

Debit charges are automatic and take priority over "pending" items. To think they should find a place at the end of a line is pure Clif, but we are talking about you arent we.

If you were checking your account then most likely you were playing the balance game and lost. Poor baby! Maybe if you were thoughtful enough to record all of your transactions this thread could be about your "karma sutra" book you seem quite fond of.

You can't add, subtract, record transactions and overdraft your account and I'm an idiot. Hahaha.

Capital Bank has Smart Checking that pays 5.01% interest.

The first Johnston County branch will be opening sometime in 2008.

Small, community bank - but offers great incentives. There are several branches in Raleigh, Wake Forest, Cary, and Zebulon.

Ok, i guess this is not gonna be a popular post, but i have been with BOA for about 15 years (actually before they were BOA) and anytime i have ever had a problem all it took was a phone call or a trip to the branch and they have always taken care of me. As for the putting the largest amount first, that is the way any bank will do as do credit cards when it comes to interest rates. The easiest way to avoid all this mess is to link your checking to your savings and you will never have to deal with overdraft charges. If that is not possible, then stay online every day and monitor your account - it is so much easier these days than when i was balancing my checking to a penny with a monthly statement. Again, i do not have a problem with BOA, neither has my Mom who has been with the company for about 50 years - i guess it all comes down to managing your finances.

Let's Face it Tawii. Your condemn Clif about adding and subtracting but you can't spell. So two negatives cancel each other. Now what. You ride a bike and are God?

Oh come on guys play nice!!!!!!

Everyone in there life time has forgotten to jot down a check that they have written, but banks do arrange them so that they can charge the ultimate most for our mistakes. Try Four Oaks in Benson or hwy 42 really nice people.

So, I will admit that I made two spelling errors. It's a curse of not having the entire day to waste on a forum, but spelling error did not cause me to post a problem of mine that was from my own ignorance hoping that everyone would sympathise with same ignorance. I guess if you want to get right down to it, Clif committed a crime because he knowingly passed a bad check. We could talk about that instead of adding and subtracting.
I don't know, what do you want to do?
    Nope

Haven't actually figured out what do say about this one.
