I am fairly new to this area--5 months actually. What are the options for celebrating and ringing in the new year in this area? Are there any places I should avoid? I don't want to go too far from the Cleveland area. May need to take a taxi by the end of the evening.

Thank you for responding back to me, Harley Girl, and for also letting me know I was posting in the wrong place. I was not sure who webbie was so I re-posted here. Ale House? Is that the place to be? Cover? Membership?

Yeah they sound really good, but the myspace page is VERY hard to read, they need a different background color.

OK. Draft House is only choice around here? If you want to dance, is this still the place to go?

    There's not a billion options - unfortunately. :-(

    How about:
the SandBar Beach Club - (look them up on the business directory of 4042 they are on 70 across from McKinleys')
Maggies Place (across from CVS on 42)
Shooters (pool hall - not my thing though -too manykids)
    McKinleys (Hwy 70-Clayton)
    The Long Branch (Raleigh)

I'm not sure if you can go shake a leg at the Draft House, but call and ask them.

That's all I can think of right now.

I think I heard that Lock, Stock & Barrel was doing something and I saw that Chops is planning something.

The Sand Bar doesn't look like they have anything planned.

Don't know about dancing at any of the places.

    How about the clubhouse?

Iron Horse? I can't find it on the internet. Found one in Florida and one in Graham County, NC. What is this Iron Horse?

LOL...I did the same thing and found the same thing.....I had no idea where or what it was.

I remember the 'Lil Bar' though, on 64, so if that's it, I know where it be.

Iron Horse is a little too far from home. I did go to the Draft House last night. A lot of people there. Took too long to get a beer. Then went to Maggies Place. They had a good crowd. Karaoke night at both places. Draft House does not have enough dance floor, but Maggies had a fairly decent size floor. I will check out McKinley's tonight.

Chops is having a $50 pre fixe menu, and I think a DJ. I believe you get a champagne toast too.

Chops is a restaurant. Do they have a dance floor area? I went to McKinley's last night. They had a band--no cover. After hearing the band, knew why. Had a beer and left. No dance floor, that I could find. Does seem to be a good place to just sit and chat with friends. I felt more comfortable there than the Draft House.

McKinleys is a good hometown "Cheers" kinda of bar...usually people just dance infront of the band. It's a good hangout type place. DH and I can be found there a few nights a week. They always have bands on Fri & Sat. nights. They only charge a cover charge on St. Pattys day, they do an all day thing and book 3 bands for the day. When we go down later, I'll try to make a mental note to find out who the band is on NY Eve and if they're good. We were out of town, so I'm not sure who played last night. Blown Away, Radio Live, Sayer McShane, Brad Benson, those are all good bands.

Don't totally quote me on this but I was under the impression that it was a state law that any place serving alcohol was required to be 21 and over after 10pm.
