Just wondering if anyone has noticed a strange smell lately (for at least two weeks) around the Old Fairgound Road area?

I live off of Old Fairground...weird how? There has been some burning and when the farmer across from us fertilizes (normally spring I think...??) it is horrid....

I have been able to smell it on Old Fairground between Mt Pleasant and Dixon Drive. It will go away for a bit and then will notice it again. Just cannot figure out what it is, was hoping someone else noticed and knew what it was.

I smelled something last night that smelled weird on Old Fairground near Dixon Road. Hard to put a finger on it but it almost smelled like meat cooking, but not like someone cooking out on a grill. Reminded me of the old Purina plant in Raleigh and when that part of town used to have that putrid meat cooking smell. This wasn't as strong as the Purina smell but it was "meaty" and very noticeable. :?

Is that the kind of smell you were referring to?

It is definitely some odd. It's not a burning leaves or trees smell.....it's hard to describe now that I'm trying to pick words....maybe a hog house smell but not quite as heavy.....paper plant or garbage smell......i know that doesn't help but I can't find the right words to describe it.....My son walks out in the morning and just says "EWWW, what is that smell?" and covers his nose, but he is a little over dramatic sometimes :)

    Ideas:
Hogs, that odor can really travel...?

Burning something - debris, trees, leaves?

    Meth Lab?

    Bad septic tank near by?

Unusual, strong odors (like cat urine, ether, ammonia, acetone or other chemicals).
