Hmmm... Curious. Both in Arizona where I spent time, and in Louisiana where I worked (yes, I was both an inmate and a correctional officer), the guards were called "Boss" or "Chief" (Chief mostly used in AZ). I've also seen documentaries filed in California prisons where the word "Boss" was used.

I wonder if it's an NC, or maybe an east coast thing.

    DOUBLE TAKE.

An inmate?? Clif. Hey did you wear pink at Arapaho's Tent City? Just wondering.

The movie I was thinking of was Diary of a Mad Black Woman.

As I was out and about yesterday I thought about this Thread. On a two lane road I was behind a police officer. He/she was driving over the speed limit by more than 10 mph and I know they were not heading somewhere for job purposes.

Question: If a civilian is behind a police officer going over the speed limit and the civilian keeps up with that police officer can the police officer stop and give the civilian a ticket for exceeding the speed limit? Just one of those Jerry Seinfeld moments.

I always wondered that myself, surely we are just going with the flow of traffic right?

Right, but I've never seen "going with the flow of traffic" accepted as an excuse in traffic court. ;)

I see it all the time. No lights or sirens. Just blowing down the highway 10-15 mph over the limit. I don't take chances by following them. The best thing to do is get them on video and post it on YouTube.

Police officers are not above the law. They are to obey the same traffic laws. Let a HP see a city or county driving that fast. I have seen them pulled.

Really? I have never noticed nor even thought about one police officer pulled over by another one for exceeding the speed limit and I have never thought about it. Huh!

I would think you could. Just don't pass him and give him the bird they do NOT like that. lol What I find so strange about this thread is I have been pulled many many many times and never once have gotten a ticket.( knock on wood) The key is knowing how to talk to the cop. If you are friendly and polite most the time they just warn you.

But...were they given a speeding ticket? I think by now we all know what the black rectangle with the blue stripe means and why they are on some vehicles by means of either tag on the front or sticker on the back. Its an off-duty LEO that wants to let other LEOs know that they are fellow officers.

I've seen State Troopers drive away from me before and I honestly have no problem with that. They chose their profession and that seems to be one of the fringe benefits. Usually, however when you see a LEO driving considerably faster than the speed limit, they have no intentions of stopping someone for speeding, unless its a blatant violation.

Actually they are not literally pulled over, but since the vehicles are readily identifiable, they would be reported and, if they do not have a reasonable explanation (silent approach perhaps?), they do get fined and/or reprimanded.

How about a Citizen's Arrest? A call to the HP?
