Clayton Steakhouse has announced it is tentatively set to open its doors in downtown Clayton, NC on January 31st. The Clayton Steakhouse’s menu will offer five entrees with a salad bar included in the entree price. There will also be a children’s menu available. The decor is described as welcoming, yet simple. There will be a full bar available for restaurant patrons only.
It appears the restaurant begin with dinner hoursonly, and there is a plan to also open the Clayton Steakhouse for lunch beginning possibly in April.

    I'm confused...
I thought this was already open? I thought maybe this was directed at the new Italian restaurant.

    I'm lost.

Its not open yet but do not count on it being open long. Nothing has lasted in that building in quite a few years. There was a mold problem in it. Maybe somehow its been taken care of but you never know.

Same building that the Fishermans something was in it.

Uh, oh! I love the restaurant near Talecris. Good food, atmosphere and fair prices.

Different location Cleo. This one is on Main street Clayton across from Main Steak Bistro. There have been many resturants in that location over the years anothing has seemed to last very long, be it due to service, quality of food, of condition of the building. Used to love the food when it was a Place called the Paron's Table......good old home cooking.

Now as to the Fishman's/Sal issue that was in the location that is located right behind the KFC/Taco Hell on highway 70 in Clayton.

I can tell you one place that sucks, and it's Lock Stock & Barrel Restaurant. We finally went last week and the service was horrible and my steak sandwich was terrible.

"Main Street in downtown Clayton is about to get livelier, too. Michael and Betsy Grannis, owners of Morning Glory Inn, are overhauling the old Fishman's Feedery spot and hope to open Clayton Steakhouse (307 E. Main St.; 553-2299) there by the end of the month. The menu will be the essence of simplicity, with only one steak (rib-eye) and a handful of other entree options (including bone-in pork chop, chicken breast, and salmon), all charbroiled and all accompanied by a salad bar. There will also be the other kind of bar, with all ABC permits."

Am I reading this correctly? Two steakhouses across from one another?

I was wondering this same thing however, it appears the "steakhouse" will only offer one steak?!?! Something smells funny.

    Really???

I have been there about a dozen times and never once got bad service. My first time there, the waitress gave me a to-cup of sweet tea. She really made my day with that one! I never had the steak sandwich so I can't comment on that. I have had the reuben (excellent), the cheeseburger (excellent), and the peppercorn steak (excellent). I always got excellent service from them too and I also love how everytime I have gone in there, its never been busy.

It wasn't busy when we were there either, but our waitress sucked....we told her so at the end of the night as well. I had to ask for a refill 3 times? It took forever for her to bring us anything we asked for. I mean it would take like 10 mins. for someone to get a refill after asking for it. We ended up being in that place for 1 1/2 hrs. because she was so slow. I won't go back.

Maybe we should all get together and eat at both on the same day. Just to compare.

Would 4042.com sponsor a group restaurant critique?

Not sure I'd call my resturant Clayton Steakhouse if all I'm offering is a single simple rib-eye. Not sure I'd even open a resturant with those 4 listed entrees, atleast not in the vacinity of Main Steak Bistro.

Lock, Stock, and Barrel is located in the old Fishman's/Sal's/Magoo's/Kai's location next to Smoker Friendly and right behind the KFC/Taco Hell on hwy 70 in Clayton.
