I LOVE it! Someone proves you wrong and you go with the "few bad apples" cop out. Fact is, you have no idea whether it's only one stripper involved in prostitution, every single last one of them, or a number somewhere in between. So, you have no facts to base your "few bad apples" defense on.

    OK Cliffy,

Since we're having a communication problem here which seems to be related to your illiteracy, arrogance, and inability to apply logical thought,
:)banghead: ) I will attempt to clear some things up:

    1. MommySAIDno was the person who commented on whether Jesus was proud about strip joints, not I. I was merely referencing her assertion. If that kind of statement entails arrogance, it was not on my part.

    2. I did NOT assert that strippers are prostitutes. I just pointed out that Jesus shared His love with them, as He did with all God's children, and I'm sure He would have with strippers if there were any around then. (I don't know if there were, not a historian.)

    3. The point I was trying to make is that, as a parent, "pride" would not be the reaction I would have to one of my children referring to a group of people as "manwhores," or any other derogatory term, for that matter.

    4. And, knowing God's "mind," whatever that means, is not, in my opinion, arrogance. Rather, it is my duty as a Christian to try to know God, because I am charged with trying to love Him with all my heart. How can I do that without knowing Him and His "mind?" I know I fall short on that task everyday. In fact, I even call people bad names, for which I don't feel proud.

    5. I could care less what you think is arrogant. (How arrogant of me!:))

Now, just for fun, let's try a little logical exercise. Many believe that pride is a sin. Many believe that Jesus did not sin. Let's, for the sake of argument, assume that those beliefs are true. That sets up the following syllogism:

    Feeling pride is a sin

    Jesus did not sin

Therefore, Jesus did not feel pride.

And since a false antecedent implies anything, stating that Jesus was not proud of strippers was a logically deduced conclusion, not an arrogant statement. Had you ever taken a Logic 101 class, you would be aware of all you need to know to deduce that yourself. (But when did you ever let a little education stand in the way of you chiseled-in-concrete opinions?)

That's about all I have to say on the subject. Feel free to keep :beathorse:, I won't be :allears:.

    Snuff:p

P.S. (Sorry, I forgot) How do you know Jesus didn't say anything about them? Very little of what Jesus said was ever recorded. Who's being arrogant now? Again, Logic 101: it's dern near impossible to prove something does NOT exist.

I guess you would be prouder if your child said "Dad, I think Strippers are just peachy. I admire them. I want to do that when I'm older."

Strippers are allowed to strip, with some restrictions...but that doesn't mean that the rest of society is required to respect their choice to strip.

Yes, I am proud that my daughter is able to recognize that acting like a whore and patronizing such a low-life sleezy establishment such as that is wrong and worthy of stigma. It's means she got the message I wanted her to get.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I wonder where the gas smell is coming from????? Could it be the 100's of junk cars less than 50 feet away .... and the oil & gas soaked ground around them .. Duhhhhhhhhhhhh! That junk yard has been there forever, of course the area's going to smell like gas.

Of course not. Where on earth did you get the idea that I think stripping is "just peachy?" I have a lot of problems with this industry, the biggest, IMHO, being that our society supports paying women hundreds of dollars a work shift to take off their clothes and "dance" but these women have few opportunities to make a living using their minds. It's ironic that the ones putting themselves through college by stripping will have to take a pay cut when they go into their chosen professions. I respect that you are proud of your daughter for recognizing something is wrong here. I'm sure you and the other adults who have influenced her have given her good examples to follow. I just take offense at any labeling which seems to be critical of either gender as a whole. My apologies if the offense is misplaced in this situation.

Didn't think I was cracking on anyone, with the possible exception of Dan, in that the building is no longer located in the lower right of the picture.

Like I said my first thoughts, shared with my wife, was that it was either a Bible Thumper (burned Sunday morning on the way to church) or it was insurance. I have seen the pictures that were shot on the scene during the height of the fire and it was nasty, but being a bar I imagine there was plenty of fuel on the premises.

Whats wrong with a respectable job that can lead to future opportunities instead?

A respectable job offers a chance to gain valuable skills and work one's way up in the world.

What sort of opportunities does stripping offer? Do they get to advance to being a Senior Stripper? Team Lead Stripper? Project Manager stripper?

When they get older and customers no longer want to see things sag and wrinkle, or they lose their flexibililty....what then? What skills do they have to fall back on then? What skills do they put on their resume that will impress a future employer other than Burger King?

"Lets see...I can hike my leg up on the tallest copier you have and shake my boobs. I can also strut down the office corridor like nothing you've ever seen. And I can talk any man in the office into buying an alcoholic drink. Oh yeah...I can do great at fundraising for the Activities committee...one dollar at a time. Hire me...I'll be a great asset to your company."

OR perhaps you feel it's valuable for a woman to aspire to just finding that perfect Sugar Daddy...
